The war nearly destroyed every living creature on the Earth.
Vampire against vampire. One group known as the Rebels wanted to rule over the Earth as the superior beings. They wanted every creature to bow down to them and acknowledge them as their rulers. The group that is known as the Royals, which has kept the peace between humans, witches and vampires since the beginning of the vampires, wanted to live in peace with every creature and not tip the scale of the delicate balance of peace between the creatures of the Earth. The War between the Royals and Rebels have been spilling into the human world and the humans were starting to see things that they cannot explain. When the Royals was on the brink of losing the war, the witches stepped in and offered their help. They knew that if the Rebels won, they would not have any peace with the rebel vampires. The witches didn't want any vampires to rule over them. They can barely tolerate the Royals; they didn't need the Rebels to take over. The witches decided that they would put all their magic together to create an alternate dimension. The Royals would travel to this dimension and the witches will take care of the Rebels. The Royals was ever so grateful and promised that they would do everything in their power to make sure that there will never be a war on earth again, at least from the supernatural side of things. They were safe. Not only was the Royals safe from the Rebels, but they also be safe of being discovered by the humans. The witches told the Royals that they need to leave for the dimension immediately. They, the witches, was going to create a spell that would make every vampire on the Earth sick. Some vampires will survive this spell but they would be very weak to a point where they would take years to recover. Some would even turn into humans with no way of becoming a vampire again. Others would die immediately after being infected with the spell. There would be no cure for this spell for the spell acts like a virus and only affects vampires. Once this spell is cast, there will be no way to reverse it. The spell was cast a few days after the Royals were safely in the new dimension. The Witches cast their spell on the Earth and every Rebel on Earth either became extremely ill or fell to the ground lifeless. The spell only lasted that day but it affected the vampire community for many years to come. The Rebels was no more and those that was left was either too weak to continue or became human.
