False Awakenings

You were running away from me

And I squeezed for you

Came up gasping only with myself

With sheets of linen in my arms

and rain on my window

Here I lie in bed

Without you

Wondering where you are

You enter the room

I smile relieved

toss the duvet aside

You run through an empty black door

I chase you

I disappear

My physical breath

My eyes open

The room becomes clear

I am back in bed

And you are nowhere near
