do i even deserve your comfort?
am i someone you should keep?
am i worth your second-hand shirt?
sing someone else to sleep
i will only make you hurt
my affection is dirt cheap
and all my short-comings are overt
i am tired and my throat is thick with the weight of it all
but i will fall asleep to the sound of my muffled cries
because it's better than listening to your melodies
and knowing you never meant it
so sing someone else to sleep
i don't deserve your voice
sing them to sleep
they've always been your first choice.
