Jennifer was a top lawyer in New York.  She had studied very hard at Harvard University for six years,  hoping she would work at a prestigious law firm.  She had only graduated two weeks ago when she received a phone call from a Mr. Zack Mappo from Gibson & Gibson Law Firm offering her a job with the law firm. She quickly said yes. Her luck was about to change and her life in many different ways.  Zack told her to start work on Monday morning at 9.00am.

So excited Jennifer couldn’t sleep, so she decided to list down the things she had always wanted. After a couple of hours of this, she went to bed.

Jennifer woke early, so she wouldn’t be late on her first day of work.  On arrival she met Zack her boss.  The moment they walked in the office the phones were ringing. Zack cursed under his breath. “I shouldn’t have sacked the receptionist”. Jennifer and Zack got down to work. During the morning Jennifer had no calls. “Don’t worry you will get something.” Zack was constantly on the phone with clients.

One day Jennifer had met  Craig from Poida & Poida located on the south of New York. Craig had been married to Tansha, but the marriage hadn’t worked out due to Craig working late nights and travelling around the place.  After the divorce they stayed friends. Craig took a liking to Jennifer straight away bit she was unsure about him, but didn’t think about it.

Jennifer had met Tansha a couple of times at parties. She seemed very possessive of Craig even though they were divorced. Tansha hated Jennifer on sight and she showed it by making crude remarks. Saying things like. “Women shouldn’t be lawyers they sleep around with their clients.”  Jennifer ignored her. Craig was seeing a lot of Jennifer much to Tansha’s anger. “She can’t have him” though Tansha. “no one can have except me” Tansha said. “There is only one thing I can do to separate them,” she though.

Jennifer was now getting clients. People from all walks of life were coming in. She was living in a spacious unit  overlooking Central Park. The money she was getting suited her just fine, she bought herself a brand new BMW, a car that she had always wanted. She bought new clothes. But something seemed to bother her but she couldn’t place it.  The she realized that someone was watching her. She knew who it was.  It was Tansha. Jennifer was driving home one day when she looked in the rear mirror. She noticed  Tansha following her. “She must be been following me from work,” thought Jennifer, but when she got close to home she wasn’t  following her anymore. When Jennifer got inside she was shaken. She decided to ring Craig and tell him what had happened, but there was no answer. She tried a couple of time, but still there was no answer. So she decided to drive to his place. Craig’s house was an hour’s drive through the valley. When she got there his car was there.  “So he is home,” said Jennifer.  Jennifer knocked on the door but there was no answer, so she slowly opened the door.

What she saw next was just unthinkable. Craig had been murdered.  Jennifer tried to scream, but nothing came out and she passed out.

When she came round she could see lights above her.  A gentle hand was on her forehead. “Where am I, “ she asked. “You are in hospital,” the nurse said.” “I’ll go and get the doctor.” A doctor and a policeman came in.  “How long have I been and who brought me here?  “You have been here for a day”. The maid rang the police when she to clean the house and that she found Craig and you. She called the police immediately. “Can you remember anything.” “All I remember is going to the house. I knocked on the door but there was no answer, so I walked in and I saw Craig  lying in a pool of blood, and that’s all I can remember.

The murder of Craig shocked everyone who knew him.  He was a brilliant lawyer who had put away the most notorious criminals in prison. Tansha was devastated  even though she killed him she showed no remorse. No one suspected her. “What a tragedy”, people were saying. Even the police were baffled. They interviewed his friends and his workmates, and they even interviewed his clients.

Jennifer returned to work getting involved with new clients. Zack had given her a week off so she could recoverfrom the shock. She still has visions of the body lying there, but she knows life must go on.

To this day the murder of Craig has never been solved.
