There's a moment, a dark, fading moment,
When you feel yourself slipping away
And as it all fades before your eyes
There are only a few, sweet things on your mind
Of a mother who once swaddled you in her arms
And rocked you back and forth, back and forth
And kissed your darling forehead
Until the sleep came peacefully
Of a lullaby you'd never get to sing
Notes on a page that were left unheard
The thrill of music that was killed
By a short, deadly silence
Of those dirty dishes left in the sink
You'd never get to wash clean
That forever stay in their grime and filth
And you'd never get to wash them clean
Of a girl who once gave you faith
And gave you laughter and life
Who believed in you
Even when you didn't believe in yourself
Of a pair of lips left untouched
Or eyes that twinkled like the stars
A pair of strong, warm arms
That just couldn't catch you this time
You think of how sad it is
Never seeing these things again
And your heart feels an unbearable release-
-And then you hit the ground....
