Alex

She answers me on the fourth ring.

"Brae," I breath through the phone, "Braelynn, I'm sorry. Fucking hell, I can't even explain myself, I'm just so damn sorry. I'm so glad you answered, please just hear me out, okay?"

She stays silent, and I hear her swallow. Her silence is killing me. I just want to hold her in my arms.

"Is there any chance you could come back? I'll pick you up. Or we can just meet at your house. Where are you right now? I'll drive there. Hell, I'll walk there. I need to see you."

"That's not a good idea, Alex." Her voice is cold, her tone expressionless. My heart sinks. A tear escapes my eye, and I think of something to say that will prove to her how much I need her.

"Don't leave me." I whisper. Woopdie doo, Alex, way to go.

I hear a small laugh, and I know what's coming next. "That's all you got? Really, Alex? "Don't fucking leave me?" God if it was that easy, I would have told you not to cheat on me. Hey Alex, don't fucking cheat on me, okay? Don't go and kiss another girl, because I love you. Bloody hell, I love you so damn much. I remember you telling me how much you loved me. Do you remember? What happened to that?"

Tears are sliding down my face like a heavy rain, but I don't hear anything close to her crying.

"What happened to that?" she whispers.

My hands are shaking, and I stay silent, because I can't answer her question.

"That's what I thought." And then the line goes dead.

"So you're single then?" Cory yells through the phone. I can hear him loud and clear, but this is the quietest I'm gonna get him. My head is pounding, I don't have time for this shit.

"Yeah." I reply, turning my music up.

"So we can party dude!" I can hear his loud family in the background, their whereabouts unknown. "Think about it, man. You're single, and heartbroken. The only things you need right now are two incredibly hot chicks and a bottle of tequila! I can hook you up, bro!"

I shake my head, even though I know he can't see me. All I want is Braelynn safe in my arms, away from anyone who might hurt her.

"Like you did?" my brain tells me.

"Oh, come on!" I can practically hear him raising his arms up in a WTF motion. "Think about it. We're talkin' about Braelynn Scott, over here. Hello, she's got five thousand guys lined up behind you, buddy. You ruined it, you can easily be replaced!"

       "Thanks." I mumble.

"Look, man. You're a great guy, okay? The last ten months with her are always going to be a fond memory, but everything happens for a reason. The reason you called up Brianna was because your brain knew how bored you are. There are only so many things a girl can do."

I sigh really loud, hoping that he'll hear how frustrated I am with him. I just lost the love of my life, and here he is, pointing out my flaws.

"I'm crashing at my own place tonight, Cor. Thanks for nothing, man." I press the end button, and flop down on my bed. What have you done to me, Brae?
