Opposites attract

Chapter 2

Ivy had been transferred from her previous school in France (Beauxbatons) at the start of the summer since her father was quite high up in the ministry and was needed in Britain, not that she really cared she loved France but she didn't love all her school at all, she had no friends and people were only nice to her because her parents being quite famous, so she usually kept to herself and to say she was lonely was an understatement.

She was chewing her fingernails nervously as she pulled up towards the station and nearly face planted onto the floor as she got out the car but someone caught her just in time, she looked up to thank her saviour only to see a lanky brown haired boy with scars littering his face and a bright smile on his face she caught herself staring and straightened herself up and gently smiled back at the boy, " umm thanks" she said nervously "oh no problem wouldn't want you to get hurt when I could easily save you" he chuckled she let out a nervous laugh and looked down at her feet, the boy seemed to notice her nervous behaviour and stuck out his hand "I'm Remus lupin" he said "Ivy lovette nice to meet you" she looked over to her mother who was waiting with her trunk by her side "but I have to get going now bye" she waved at him as she joined her mom and picked up her trunk leaving for the train, he waved back with a small smile tugging at his lips as she left and headed in the same direction moments after with his parents.

Ivy ran through the wall to get to the train and appeared on the other side moments later, followed by her mother soon after, she gave her mother a hug and wiped a tear from her cheek and she waved of as she boarded the train, once she was on the train she sighed and headed to find a compartment. She walked around the whole train until she eventually found a compartment that was free. She put away her trunk and sat down and pulled out her favourite book pride and prejudice out her backpack while also pulling out a chocolate frog and popping it in her mouth, she sighed and looked out the window. A few minutes passed before a particularly angry red haired girl opened the compartment door, ivy turned her attention to the girl and smiled she invited her to sit with her and the girl gladly agreed. She stuck out her hand and introduced herself "lily Evans what's your name?" She asked with a smile on her face " Ivy lovette pleasure to meet you" she greeted. "Are you new I haven't seen you around before?" She questioned " oh yeah I'm new I'm starting in my fifth year" she replied "oh I'm in fifth year how come you have only come to Hogwarts now?" She questioned. "I was in Beauxbatons but my father was needed in Britain so her I am" " well I hope we can be friends you seem nice" she offered "yeah that would be nice" she smiled back. Before either of the girls was able to reply the compartment door flew open once again only four boys were stood in the hallway two were grinning widely one had short messy hair and round glasses and the other long dark hair going down to his shoulders ,the other two boys stood beside one another, the slightly smaller boy stood looking quite awkward and uncomfortable probably in the presence of the girls , she looked over to the last boy only to realised it was the boy from before currently engrossed in a book, oblivious to anything that was happening.

Lily sighed "what do you want potter" she hissed trying to control her obvious hatred for the messy haired boy, he didn't care instead he grinned once again and replied rather arrogantly " well to see my lovely lily-flower of course" she huffed and rolled her eyes "also all the other compartments are full so we decided to sit with you" he added " well that's perfectly fine" she replied "it is?" his eyes lit up with excitement only to be filled with disappointment moments later after lily said " yes cause I have to go to my prefects meeting anyway, Remus you coming" she asked the tall boy with a soft kind voice, so that was his name unique I like it " hmm" he hummed as he continued to read his book, she stood up and clicked her fingers in front of his face which immediately snapped him out of his trance " oh sorry yeah sure" he added quickly she turned around to address ivy " I have to go now but I'll be back later it is ok that these can sit here?" She asked, ivy looked at the boys who were already looking at her only realising there was someone else in the compartment " um yeah sure" she said nervously " ok there not as bad as they seem trust me" "well all except potter" she quickly added "bye" she waved and then left with the tall boy.

The messy haired boy huffed and plonked himself on a seat along with the two others shortly after, once they were all seated they turned to face ivy to introduce themselves James potter, Sirius black and Peter pettigrew ,ivy introduced herself and found herself hitting it of with the three boys. She had a sensed they weren't the best influence as they talked about pranks they planned to play once we arrived at Hogwarts but none the less they were extremely welcoming and kind towards ivy.

After a while lily and Remus returned ivy and Remus got re-introduced and also hit it off.

After a while lily her and Remus were having a discussion between which muggle books were best, Sirius and James were playing a heated game of exploding snap and Peter was watching and sniggering when Sirius kept losing which got him and angry glare from him. Eventually the train stopped and they all got out together and headed for the carriages which were somehow being pulled by themselves which fascinated ivy but she shook it off and got into the carriage.

They pulled to an abrupt stop and people clambered out the carriages towards the castle, ivy took one look at the magnificent castle and her jaw dropped it was beautiful "oi ivy you coming" shouted Sirius snapping her out of her trance she nodded and headed to the great hall with her new friends.

She was instructed by a stern looking women with green emerald robes to wait outside the great hall with the first years, she was to be sorted first since she was oldest, after a couple minutes professor magongall reappeared and hushed the first years and opened the doors with the flick of her hand the hall had fallen silent and were all staring at ivy with curious looks. "As miss ivy lovette is our new addition to Hogwarts and will be starting in fifth year she will be sorted first" and old man with a long white beard and expensive robes addressed and ushered ivy to come forward, she nervously approached an old stool and sat down getting more nervous by the second with many students gawking at her, an old patched hat was placed on her head and immediately sprung to life with startled her " ahh yes ivy lovette I've been wondering when you would arrive, but better late than never I suppose" the hat said " hmm now what will it be loyal and brave but also quite cunning and ambitious could be good for Slytherin" the hat suggested ivy panicked she hadn't heard good things about Slytherin from her new friends who were in griffindor and seemed to hate all Slytherins, the hat seemed to sense ivy's fear of being placed in Slytherin " no no not Slytherin at all" the hat paused for a moment before shouting "GIFFINDOR" ivy felt like a weight had been taken off her shoulders she smiled as people began to cheer ( mainly the griffindors ) she hopped of the stool and headed towards the griffindor table, she saw lily waving her over and she headed over and sat beside her.

Lily introduced ivy to her friends Mary and Marlene ,Mary was a beautiful small dark skinned girl and Marlene was a tall blonde with  gorgeous green eyes they smiled and congratulated her on getting into griffindor as well as the boys who were sat nearby, after a while all the first years were sorted and a magnificent feast appeared in front of the students ivy piled food on her plate as well as many others and started to eat while chatting to the girls.

Lily huffed clearly irritated by something and had kept her eyes trained on the doors of the great hall the whole feast " were is she" she mumbled under her breath she looked over to the boys with a questioning look but they too had there eyes set on the doors, " who are you waiting for ?" She questioned lily at ivy and huffed again "just one of our friends I want you to meet but she isn't here yet" she replied slightly irritated "cmon lily you know what she's like she hates the sorting ceremony ivy will just have to meet her at breakfast tomorrow" Sirius interrupted she sighed "fine" ivy wanted to know who they were talking about but she shrugged it off and continued to eat.
