"In ten minutes the memorial service starts"

My uncle stated thru the mic so everybody in the church could here

"Damn can't believe it's been nineteen years since i seen her" i said to myself as i sat on the front row

She wanted me to make a promise wit her that if she got any worse don't worry about her anymore...

I guess she didn't want me seeing her like that

Now that it's ten thirty they began a gospel song called your spirit by Tasha Cobbs

This is not ha favorite gospel song why they playin this

I shook my head

Y'all can't even play the song my momma asked for after she died..

I tapped my uncle and asked why they wasn't playing the song she asked for and he said oh your untie didn't want everybody to be sad

Nah fuck that cause my momma can't even get the song she wanted to play at her funeral

"Who the man controlling the music?" i asked my uncle

"Don't do anything stupid now this is your momma funeral"

"I'm not i'm just finna tell him to play the song my momma wanted"

He made a face "Li nigga you haven't checked up on my sister for years and now you wanna come here controlling shit"

"Ah na you can chill out with all that i had a reason"

"What was the reason for you to never come see your momma when she need you the most" he got up in my face

"Mann back up bruh fr youn even know the half i put myself to try not to forget her"

"She promised me to not stay and watch her get like that she wanted me to move on and have a life while she stuck there" i kept talkin

"Do you know how it feels for your own parent to not remember you every damn day and you just sitting there not knowing what to do YOU DONT so don't come all up in my face talking about shit...ion wanna hea it"

At that point everybody was looking at us

I walked over to my momma casket and looked at her all the memories flashed thru my mind all over again
