I took a shaky breath, tears pricking at the corner of my eyes, filled with an incomparable relief. They were all here. I didn't have to fight alone anymore.

Now:

I stepped forward to stand among my classmates, my knees quivering just slightly in my place between Bakugou and Midoriya.  I tried to remember what happened next in the anime and manga, but there was so much adrenaline pumping through my body and so many thoughts racing through my brain that I couldn't seem to recall a single detail.

"Kurogiri," Shigaraki growled. "How could you let this brat get the best of you? You've gotten us into a real jam here."

Bakugou let out a short laugh. "You got careless, you dumb villain," he taunted. "It wasn't hard to figure you out. Only certain parts of you turn into that smoking warp gate. You use that mist to hide your actual body as a kind of distraction, thinking that made you safe." He moved in closer for a moment. "That's why we missed." He moved back again, that smirk not falling for a second. "But if you didn't have a body, you wouldn't be wearing this neck armor, right? You're not immune to physical attacks if they're well aimed." I grinned at Bakugou, pride filling my chest at how unbelievably smart he was. Kurogiri shifted slightly, but before he had the chance to even think of escaping, a few small explosions went off on Bakugou's hand. "Don't move," he laughed humorlessly, leaning in close. "You try anything funny, and I'll blow your ass up so bad that they'll be piecing you back together for weeks."

"Woah, that doesn't sound very heroic," Kirishima cut in, glancing at Bakugou with a slightly uncomfortable smile.

"They escaped uninjured and captured my two strongest men," Shigaraki muttered to himself. "Kids these days really are amazing. They make the League of Villains look like amateurs. Can't have that." He turned to the half-frozen Nomu. "Nomu," was all he had to say before the bird monster forced itself to stand back up straight and out of the warp gate, breaking off its own arm and leg in the process.

"How is that thing still moving?  He's all messed up." Midoriya muttered, both him and Todoroki watching in disbelief.

"Stay back, everybody!" All Might commanded, sweeping an arm in the direction of his students.

"It can regenerate," I breathed, thinking back to when I ripped off its arm.

"What is this?" All Might growled as the thing's arm and leg started to grow back.  "I thought you said his power was shock absorption."

"I didn't say that was his only quirk," Shigaraki taunted.  "He also has super regeneration.  Nomu has been modified to take you on even at 100% of your power.  He's basically a highly efficient punching bag that hits back."  We all tensed at the now perfectly fine Nomu standing before us.  "First we need to free our method of escape," Shigaraki commented dryly. I turned with wide eyes to where Bakugou was crouching, his hand still placed over Kurogiri's neck armor, and before I knew it, my legs were moving again.  I skidded to a stop, standing protectively in front of Bakugou just in time for Shigaraki to say, "Get him, Nomu."

The thing broke into a sprint, almost moving too fast to see.  I tried to raise my arm to stop it, but it felt like everything was moving in slow motion.  Suddenly, I realized that I wasn't going to be able to stop it in time.  I was gonna die.  I squeezed my eyes shut in fear, bracing myself for the immense pain that would soon follow.

A massive explosion of air pressure went off, blowing everybody back at the incredible amount of force, and when the dust finally cleared, all that was left was Nomu holding Kurogiri.

"Kacchan!" Midoriya shouted, terrified, but soon caught sight of his childhood friend sitting only a few feet away with me right beside him.  "Kacchan?" He said again, this time relieved.  "Woah, that's awesome; you dodged him and saved (L/N)!" He exclaimed, turning to face the hot-headed boy.
