A young boy, slight for his age, woke up and gazed down the corridor before creeping into a grand bedroom. He looked around to make sure no one was watching before softly making his way to the bed. His hand rested on the covers, almost fearful of touching the sleeping lady, so pale as to be ephemeral. He feared that the slightest touch might take her away from him, so weak had she grown since father had died.
       He watched his mother and thought about the idea he had formed the previous night in his dreams….
