You were at a family party with Richard and honestly it was a bit overwhelming. Coming from a smaller family, you weren't used to having so many people at family events. You watched as Aaliyah and the other kids ran around playing games and eating candy, all the aunts gathered on the couches catching up and gossiping, the uncles watching some sort of sporting event on tv, all the adult cousins around your age were drinking and dancing with their significant others.
You weren't sure where Richard had disappeared to but you weren't too worried since you had been introduced to many of his family members in the past. Sitting down at the kitchen island, you continued to eat the delicious food provided by all the other females of the family. Before dating Richard, you had never tried Dominican food let alone experienced any of the other aspects of his culture.
"Y/n?" you heard Aaliyah call out to you.
"Yes sweetie?" you asked.
"Papi wants you to go over there." she said while pointing towards Richard on the makeshift dance floor.
You looked up and saw him wink at you as he danced with one fo his many aunts. You weren't sure but it looked like they were dancing bachata. You don't know much about it but you had seen him dance it before and he had even tried to teach you in the past but you gave up pretty quickly.
Making your way over towards him, you stopped to chat a little bit with his cousins and aunts. Forgetting all about Richard, you chatted happily with everyone before feeling an arm wrap around your waist.
"I thought you were making your way to me. What happened?" he whispered in your ear.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I got distracted chatting with everyone. Did you need something?"
"Nothing much. Just wanted you to come dance with me."
"You know I can't dance."
"Exactly. Which is why I'm going to teach you how to dance bachata. Just follow my lead."
"I'm going to look like a fool. Seriously, everyone is going to laugh at me."
"Nah, just do what I tell you and follow what I do. You'll be just fine."
You hold his hand and follow him to the middle of the room where everyone else was dancing and nervously watch as he pulls you close. He holds both your hands as he tells you the steps and which way to move. You do your best to listen to his instructions and follow his moves as he pulls you close to his body before moving away again.
At first, your movements were a bit stiff but after a bit of practice, it started to feel natural. You looked around and saw the smiles on his mom and grandmothers face. You know how much they love you and how happy you and Richard are together. Every time you're around them, they are always asking you when you're going to get married or when you were going to give them another grandchild and great grandchild.
"I told you that you would be great. Look at us dancing and smiling. Picture perfect moment right here."
"Only you could get me to dance in front of a room of people. Seriously none of my past boyfriends have ever seen me dance before."
"Well I'm glad I'm the first person to get you to dance. Now we can show off at all the family events."

A/N: So I actually don't know anything about bachata except for the fact that it's a dance so I'm not going to get too specific into it because I have no clue what I'm talking about. This was also kind of short but I hope you enjoyed it anyways!
