Chapter 46 : FUTURE SON IN LAW
ISABELLA'S POV
"ISABELLA WINSTON , I'm talking to you!"
"Yes mom! I'm listening , arent I ?!"
" Calm down ! "
"I was not expecting you here " ,
I mumble
"I was also not expecting what happened either"
"Mom I don't want to talk to anyone"
"Isabella! You failed your Maths exam"
"Don't remind me "
"Come here "
"What?"
"Come closer" she says and I move forward
Out of nowhere , she wraps her arms around me and mumbles ,
"Let the exam go to hell , tell me where did my daughter's smile go?"
I pull away and say ,
"I am fine . See I'm smiling " ,
I flash a smile , a forced one , a fake one !
"Sweetheart! "
"Dad?! What are you doing here?"
"Well , as soon as we realised that you've been ignoring our calls and your messages are being as brief as possible , you also failed your Maths exam , we knew something was wrong so here we are "
"I even called Royal and all he said was that you both are not on speaking terms " Mom sighs
"You heard right " I sighed
Lot of sighing in here !
"Did he do something to hurt you ?" Dad asks me
"The other way around"
"If so , then did you realise what went wrong ?" Mom asks and I nod .
"Then what's the issue? If you are sorry about it , then go apologize"
"I tried but he doesn't want to talk to me , like never ever "
"Jason , I think this is their matter and they should solve it their way " ,
Mom tells dad
"But can't you see how it turned out so far ?"
"They used to fight back in the day
but at that time , they also realised how at the end of the day ,
what matters the most is their bond over all these petty issues "
I bit my lip involuntarily hearing that .
"So let's talk about your grades "
"Please don't"
"Bella this is your finals we are talking about and I just had a talk with your Maths professor "
"You didn't"
"I did .Now you have 2 options .
1 Shift to Regular Maths i.e Pre Calculus from your AP Level or
2 Next semester , you should pass this AP exam with flying colours , you decide"
"I so wanna say the first one , but I'll be going with the 2nd one"
"Listen Bella , don't let exams freak you out . All you gotta do is gain the knowledge and during the exam , share it .
I mean , your mom used to say that to me sometimes , especially when I was failing the classes pretty badly and it worked .
Somehow I managed to pass my finals with the help of an amazing tutor "
"He cheated" Mom smirks
"I used to , but after I got you , I never did"
"Sweetie , you know what's right and wrong .
Even though grades won't matter in the long run , but you need it to get into a good university .
Yes , your parents can afford it but won't it be nice for you , if you could do it with your own merit "
"I understand Mom"
"Control your emotions and don't let them come between you and your dreams "
"It's well said that feel you shit , understand your shit but don't lose your shit " Dad adds
I nod .
"And do you want me to knock some sense into Royal ?"
I shake my head .
"We'll get through this " I say , hope igniting inside me
"That's the spirt , now come here " Mom says and I run into her arms
"I'm sorry that I was rude to you earlier "
"It's okay .
Remember , just because you are sad , don't let your loved ones feel the same because all they are trying to do is make you feel alright again "
I nod .
" Listen , since we are here , why don't you show us around ?"
"Definitely"
"Also , I want to meet Royal"
"Please don't talk about me "
"As if that's going to stop me " she says
Then dad's phone rings and he says ,
"I gotta take this "
Dad starts talking over the phone at a distance and mom asks me ,
"Now what happened ?"
"He was kind of angry at me so
I decided to scare him by pretending that I was drowning.
It made things right just for a moment and then it backfired .
Now he doesn't even wanna be in the same place where I am "
"Don't cry "
"Fudge I didn't even realise I was "
"Bella , even if it doesn't look that serious , it is . People have actually died because they couldn't swim to save themselves .
And sorry to say , but Roy has a right to get angry at you for that"
"I know , that's exactly why I can't keep forcing myself on him just to forgive me"
"Okay ! Why the hell is she crying?"
"Because our daughter has started to like someone 'a lot' "
And I look at Mom wide eyed ,
not to mention how teary they are at the present .
"It's Royal , isn't it?" Dad asks , while looking at both of us
He gets his answer because neither of us replies .
He sighs .
I defend Ro by saying ,
" Dad , you know Royal and he's beautiful inside and out "
"That's not the problem Bella" he says
"Then ?" I ask
"It's nothing ! He's just trying to act bitter as fathers do when their girls talk about boys " Mom chuckles
And dad glares at her .
"You know you can smile " Mom suggests and I give her a faint smile .
"At least you are not flashing a fake one "
"But wait a minute , he has a girlfriend ?"
"They broke up " I say , recalling how the news somehow managed to reach my ears .
I had mixed emotions about the same !
"Why?"
"I don't know"
" By the way , Sweetie ,
You are given this life because God knows no one but you are strong enough to live it "
" Thank you Mom and Dad "
" Kiddo don't worry about that . Now let's go " , Dad says
"You guys go ahead . I'll talk to you later"
"Where are you going Mom ?"
"To my future son in law" she winked
"I didn't agree to that yet!" Dad cuts me before I could say anything

JASMINE'S POV
"Mum!"
He exclaims as soon as his eyes fall upon me .
This word means a lot to him and
he actually is comfortable referring it to me , is what makes me feel beyond happy .
Summer , I will never be able to take your place , in fact no one can ,
but your son is just like my own child so don't you worry bestfriend .
I'm gonna take care of him !
"How are you Roy?"
"I am okay "
"Yaa if by okay you mean not okay , then surely you are more than okay "
"How is she ?"
"Who?"
"You know who!"
"So she has a name"
"How is Isabella?" he mumbles
"No Izzy?"
"How is ... Izzy?"
"Go and ask her "
"I don't want to talk to her"
"Look Roy , you need to understand what she did was just to have her bestfriend back "
"I do know that but "
"Okayyy.. You both are old enough to decide for yourselves but also remember , this phase of life , teenage , is rather complicated .
One tends to overthink a lot so
best way to deal with it is by doing what your heart feels like and what your brain agrees to "
Ro nods .
"And be careful" I say cheekily
"Why?"
"Jason"
"What about Jason ?"
"You'll see , by the way why did you and Jessica broke up?"
"She deserves someone who is in love with her, unlike me "
"You are a good man and I know for sure , you'll treat Izzy the way she deserves "
"Huh?"
"Come on , everyone knows you both are endgame !
Everyone except you two that it "
"I don't even know if she likes me that way "
"Do you? Or are you just afraid of what will happen next if you figure out she does? "
"Maybe. Our friendship is too precious to lose"
"If that's how you feel then why don't you fight for it !
She feels sorry and she cares about your bond just as much , if not more . Why are you both keen on making things harder for yourselves ?"
" I know she does .
It's just our bond is not the way it was . Our silly fights have increased and instead of sharing happiness ,
all we do is cause each other pain "
"No relationship is perfect , it applies to 'friendship' too in your case .
But what is perfect is the love felt , which connects people and
you both love each other
'as best friends' so gradually it will all make sense .
You'll understand why you both had to go through this challenging phase "
"But still , our bond , why did it change so much ?"
"It didn't change , it is as special as it was and it will stay that way .
Some slight changes take place and it's for the greater good .
Do you think my and Jason's relationship is the same ?"
"I don't know"
"It's not. And it's alright .
We love each other , that's what matters .
We do have our fair share of arguments but somehow we learned to understand each other more than quarelling with each other "
"I'll need some time "
"Okay , no problem . Just remember , time doesn't wait for anyone"
He nods and I get closer .
I keep both of my hands on his cheek and say ,
"Everything's gonna be alright and
I mean it "
He nods and smiles .
"I'll get going but there's a message for you "
"Message? What ? and from whom ?"
"Riley , she asked you to surrender yourself and get her baby brother back from wherever you have hid him . Her words , I quote ,
' My brother can't be this good at mathematics ! ' "
At that , we both chuckle .
"Izzy failed " I say
"What?"
"Yaa , she failed her Maths exam and her teacher called me"
"Please don't be mad at her , it's a tough time for her "
"I'm not mad at her .
I just hope that you both realise that life's more than you think of it .
And you are gonna face bigger problems , but you shouldn't be scared .
As opposed you should be happy that god considered you for this opportunity to strengthen you emotionally "
"We both needed that " he smiles
"Also Summer says that she's always with you so you need not to worry about anything .
Whenever you feel sad just close your eyes and you'll find her within you , where she'll be reflecting your emotions so make sure you are happy because that will make her happy "
Royal hugs me and I can't help but smile at his sweet gesture .
"I miss her "
"I know . We all do "
"Okay , I should get going " I say and wave him bye , before I end up crying myself !

Few days later ,
ISABELLA'S POV
I haven't been myself lately .
Maybe I'm just over-stressing about certain things !
Basically all AP Exams were done and PE too. I had only one program
i.e AP Maths to deal with and I screwed that !
I didn't study. I mean I tried to but couldn't focus , not even for 10 minutes straight .
Luckily , we had a week off I.e study leave in which Mrs Smith checked our papers as quickly as possible and even contacted my mom ,
who not only flew here the very next day , but also bought Dad along !
Well well well , my dear parents somehow managed to knock some sense into me before I could make things any more complicated !
I still had two days more and I made the most out of them by actually studying for the remaining subjects.
Yes , believe it or not ,
I 'temporarily' deleted Netflix from my lappy & 'wattpad' from my phone .
Toughest decision and resistance of my life !
And also , happily temporarily disabled my Instagram account...
Coming to the present , I was seating in my assigned seat and waiting for the bell to ring so I can start writing my German paper .
I had already finished with English n Economics Exams and both of which were better than what I anticipated.
Just few more exams left and after that I'm finally done with my junior year of high school !
Looking at the other end,
I spot Ro tapping his pen on his desk .
He does that when he gets nervous,
probably it's about the exam .
Or probably because you both are in the very same room !
He looks up and when he catches me already staring , he immediately looks outside the window and I gulp .
The bell rings and everyone turns the Question sheet around .
Ro will I ever get the chance to tell you how much I like you ?!
But then again , I'm the one who pushed you away , I'm the one who's at fault and I'm the one who's crazy for you !
