It started with a damned game or was it that it ended with that damned game?

- Serena

A group of teenage friends watched with anticipation as the spinning bottle slowed down and came to a stop, it's cap pointing at Dawn.

"Truth or Dare?" Miette sang, her eyes twinkling with wicked amusement as she leaned in her boyfriend's side. Calem smiled softly in her direction before turning to watch Dawn as she made her choice.

"Truth." Dawn's soft smile contradicted the promise of retaliation in her eyes.

"What is the most embarrassing thing you have done in your life?" Miette asked without a moments thought.

Dawn's eyes widened in horror before they narrowed. Muttering about secrets and promises of retribution, a red-faced Dawn answered. "I might have, at some point, been responsible for getting May caught while she was giving Drew his 'birthday gift'."

"That was you." May's accusation was heard over the loud laughter that filled the air. Serena giggled as she remembered that tale vividly.

May had her face in her hands as Drew tried to ignore the laughter and mutter something in his girlfriend's ears.

"What? It was an honest mistake." A very mortified Dawn answered back with a red face and the laughter picked up again.

Serena, feeling light-headed, took a sip of her punch again. A giggle escaped her lips and she didn't see the glint in Miette's eyes as she spun the bottle.

The bottle came to a stop, this time the victim was Serena herself. "Dare." She declared before the question could be asked. She giggled while watching Shauna think over her dare.

Serena watched as Shauna's eyes lit up in wicked amusement. "I know, I know," Shauna said and turned to whisper something in May's ear, who giggled.

Serena was certain she heard something along the lines of 'you naughty minx' but she wasn't sure.

"This, my dear Serena, is a once in a lifetime opportunity." Shauna declared in sotto as if she was giving her a free ticket to Kanto where her boyfriend Ash was. She giggled as she remembered one of their midnight conversations.

"Spill it out already," Dawn shouted impatiently from her side. She seemed eager to get on with it. Her face was red and she avoided looking anywhere near May and Drew.

"So, we all know that you might have had a crush on someone and even if you are in a relationship with the guy, you must have wanted to kiss someone." Shauna giggled as the group laughed, knowing where it was headed.

"Why don't you do it now? There must be a guy you have wanted to kiss for a while now but didn't get a chance to, you know, because of your relationship and all."

Serena didn't see Miette typing something on her phone. Nor did she see her whisper in Calem's ear who smiled and nodded before Miette left the room.

"Your dare is to kiss the boy you have always wanted to." Serena, red-faced and smiling shyly, knew she should have never told her about that.

After a few weak denials from her part, Serena glanced in Calem's direction. "Oh, it's Calem, isn't it?" Dawn picked up on her glances and declared loudly. It brought the entire groups attention on the boy who looked decidedly uncomfortable with the sudden attention.

"Come on, do it," Shauna shouted and the group picked up chanting her name in encouragement.

Gulping, she gathered her courage and moved towards the boy. Blushing she leaned forward and...

Miette smiled mischievously as she left the room. Today was a great day. The get-together of all the friends of their group who got accepted in Lumiose high was a huge success.

Her boyfriend was here too and that made it all the special. She smiled remembering the look on his face when he learned that all members of their merry little band got accepted in the same school. Yes, all of them.

But someone was missing in their get-together party. That missing someone was a surprise for Serena. Oh, she was going to capture the moment of their reunion. She was certain that it was going to be beautiful.

She and her boyfriend had gone to great lengths to ensure that the arrival of Serena's surprise remained a secret. Serena, while her best friend, was truly happy when she was with her boyfriend.

There was a different kind of joy that sparkled in her eyes when she looked at him. And while she had a small crush on the boy, she didn't have it in her to pursue someone her best friend was in love with.

Speaking of whom, she squealed happily as soon as she opened the door and launched herself at the brown-eyed boy. "Ash. It's so good to see you again." Said boy laughed loudly as he spun her around.

The irate muttering of his partner Pikachu who got thrown off his shoulders made the teens laugh even more.

"Miette, it's good to see you too." Ash winked before whispering something about having words with Calem. He got a swat on his shoulder for his troubles.

"You will do no such thing, mister. That boy is shy enough as it is. I do not want him running for the hills just because the big bad Ketchum wants to have words with him." She tried to keep her angry expression but soon found herself laughing with the boy.

"Come along. Serena is upstairs." Miette found herself amused when Ash stumbled while trying to pick up the pace. She giggled and stopped him from going further. The boy didn't even know how to get there.

Chuckling, she grabbed his hand before leading him to the backyard of her house. "The pokemon are relaxing out here, Pikachu can stay with them." Miette smiled as she watched the group of different Pokémon greet the electric rodent happily.

"You didn't forget to bring her favourite flowers, did you?" One look at Ash's face and Miette was forced to drag her palm on her face. "The stupid boy did." She muttered.

"Hey, it's not my fault that I was so excited to see Serena," Ash said indignantly. Miette was left shaking her head at the love-struck boy.

"Come on. It's a good thing I planned ahead. Let's get your flowers and my camera. What? I am going to capture the look on her face when she learns that you are here and going to Lumiose high with her."

Miette chuckled at the look on his face before blushing prettily when he kissed her cheek with the exclamation of her being the best.

"Come along, Serena's waiting." She muttered and stalked ahead. She didn't want to be teased for months just because she blushed when Ash kissed her.

Damn her crush on the raven-haired boy. Damn Serena for being in love with him. Damn Ash for being with her. Damn her noble self. And damn it all because she liked being kissed by her crush. She didn't want more.

Serena had heard the cheers and catcalls from her friends when she started kissing Calem.

Leaning back, she became acutely aware of the deafening silence. Blushing, she touched her lips and smiled shyly at the boy who returned it with an accompanying wink.

"Oh boy..." She heard Dawn mutter but couldn't find the reason for that. Looking around, she found that no one was looking in their direction. Instead, all eyes were glued to the doorway.

Wide eyes, slack-jawed, and the overall terrified and shocked expressions of her friends told her that something was not right. Slowly, she turned to look at the doorway and her breath hitched.

Standing there with wide eyes and an open mouth was her boyfriend, Ash Ketchum. Her heart raced when he opened his mouth before closing it and repeating that action again. Besides him, Miette stood with a similar expression.

Oh gods, what have I done? Serena thought to herself when she saw Ash looking at the beautiful bouquet of red roses he was holding with a frown.

"I suppose I won't need it anymore, Miette." Everyone heard and understood the meaning behind his words except Serena.

There was a collective wince as the roses were thrown in the dustbin with reckless abandon. "I will see you guys tomorrow." Ash's voice cracked when he said that. His eyes were fixed on Serena's and the pain in them made her want the earth to swallow herself.

Serena tried to open her mouth, to call him back as he left but found herself unable to do it. Silent tears fell from her eyes as she realized that he was walking away from her. From them.

"Satisfied Serena?" Miette asked in a scathing voice. "Do you have any idea how happy he was to see you again? And what does he find you doing? Making out with someone else's boyfriend." She screeched and tried to rub her eyes discreetly.

"Make that ex-boyfriend, Calem," Miette screamed loudly before turning and following Ash.

Confused, disoriented and heartbroken with the way a simple dare took a turn for the worse, Serena could do nothing but cry bitter tears as Dawn attempted to console her half-heartedly.

An uncomfortable silence followed as everyone stared at each other. No one was sure about what they were supposed to do in that situation.

"What happened?" Bonnie exclaimed as soon as she was able to remove her brother's hands from her eyes. Clemont was successful in covering his sister's eyes as soon as things got heated between Serena and Calem.

He wasn't, unfortunately, quick enough to keep her mouth shut.
