I can't get my mind off of that guy from earlier, who is he, and what happened that made him so shocked?
I walk down the hall and find the creative writing class, and inside the class I see the same boy Anna and I helped earlier.
I enter the classroom and ask if I can sit next to him.
He looks at me wide eyed, as if he was given a surprise gift.
His lips say yes and I sit down.
I read his lips and he thanks me for what I did, and says his name is Ryan.
"I'm Kyra Trey. Who was that guy?" I ask.
I read his lips and he explains that the guy's name is Shane Hart, and that he has issues. But what kind of issues.
My eyes turn to face two older women standing in front of the whiteboard. I remember the tall woman from yesterday, she's my writing teacher.
"Hello writers, my name is Ms. Sayers, I am your creative writing teacher, and this is Miss Lily Choi, my interpreter and also teachers aid. I am so thrilled to be teaching you all this year and we are going to have an exciting year ahead of us." The lady signs as the petite woman next to her translates.
This is amazing, I'm not alone!
"Okay, we are going to start roll call now." Ms. Sayers signs and gets a list.
I see Miss Choi saying names of the various students as Ms. Sayers signs the names.
"Kyra Trey?" Ms. Sayers signs.
"I'm present." I sign back. Ms. Sayers looks at me wide eyed.
"You know sign language?" she signs.
"I'm deaf, I'm fluent in Sign Language, but I can also speak and read lips." I respond in my voice, as I sign.
Ms. Sayers smiles at me warmly.
"Welcome to Creative Writing." she signs.
Now I feel like I made the right decision coming here.
