Kelly's POV

I sighed as Mrs. Conrad pushed me in the changing room for what seemed like the hundredth time with a sales' lady hot on my trail with another wedding dress.

Whenever I watched movies about love and happily ever after, I thought buying a wedding dress was like any other shopping day. I was so wrong.

I huffed as Cindy the sales' lady pulled the lacy puffy white dress over my head. It was huge and the spaghetti straps weren't helping at all.

"I don't think it's for me." My hands were holding the dress on me, literally.

"How are you doing, honey?" Mrs. Conrad yelled from the other room.

Am drowning in lace and fabric, save me! "Uh we're doing great Mrs. Conrad but I don't think this is the dress of my dreams."

"Okay, hold on darling. We're going to try another one and please dear, call me Hilary after all we're going to be family really soon." I gulped upon hearing that word. My mind had to yet get accustomed to the fact that I was really marrying Max.

Does he even like me? Even a little bit? Well I hardly doubt that. How could he settle for little weird me?

Cindy came back with a long white mermaid wedding dress. She helped me put in on me and it was my size, surprisingly. I ran my hands over the soft fabric and the diamonds embedded over the cleavage. It hugged my body and trailed behind in a long train. Somehow I wasn't disturbed by the fact that it showed a little of my sides and cleavage.
"Wow, you have to see yourself in a full mirror." Cindy said excitedly pushing me out of the changing room.

Mrs. Conrad was talking on her phone and when she saw me, she grinned and hang up. She held her hands together over her lips and her eyes glistened with tears. She approached staring in awe and pulled me in a tight hug before quickly pulling away. "Oh darling, we don't want to wrinkle your dress. You look like an angel, oh my God." She sniffed and Cindy handed her a tissue while I awkwardly stood there.

Mrs. Conrad held me by my shoulders smiling. "My son is so lucky to have landed on you. God knows I was scared that he would get married after impregnating one of those brainless young girls." She shook her head. "You'll make a beautiful bride, sweetie. Now, you have to take a look at yourself."

She dragged me in front of a full length mirror.
I couldn't help but gasp at the sight of the dress, it had a sweetheart neckline and the bare back of the dress was in the shape of a heart.

"Hey Mrs. C," a voice called behind us and we turned to see Tony typing on his phone walking to us, "Max told me that you and...Woah." He stood frozen staring at me, his mouth open before he grinned and winked at me while I blushed like the greatest idiot.

"Isn't she beautiful?" Hilary gushed standing beside him as they both stared at me in awe making me blush even more. Now I regret wearing this beautiful dress.

"Very. Max is one lucky bast-guy, now I get his obsession with you_"

"Tony." I said warning him about teasing me.

"What?" He put his hands up in surrender. "Am just stating the obvious. Aren't they just meant to be, Mrs. C?" He asked sweetly amused at my reddening face as he kept on with his tease.

"I know," Hilary replied squealing, "just imagine their babies? They'll be so cute. I want my grand kids very soon Kelly." She wiggled her brows knowingly.

I looked down, embarrassed. Someone get me out of here. Please ground, open up and swallow me! "I-I...it's_"

"Can you two stop teasing my fiancé?" An amused voice said behind the two bullies.

I looked up to see Max in front of me staring down at me adoringly. He wore one of his dark suits and he looks like the powerful intimidating CEO he was. His eyes left mine and trailed down to my dress. That's when it hit me, the groom is not supposed to see the bride's wedding dress. It's bad luck. Yes, I believe

Panicked, I put my hand over his eyes preventing him from further dooming our wedding. Why, I don't know.
In doing so, I found myself pressed against his body. I tried to pull away but the sneaky guy had his arm around my waist.

Max chuckled and brought a hand up to where mine was covering his eyes. "Why don't you want me to see you?"

"B-because it brings bad luck when the groom sees the bride's dress before the wedding." I stuttered and he just chuckled sexily. Okay, why does he have to be so...hot.

"Okay," he said uncertain, "what if I told you that I don't believe in those...myths?" He asked cocking his head.

"Well, I do." I replied irritated that he didn't care about that.

He removed my hand even with my protests. "I just want to see my beautiful fiancé in her enchanting wedding dress." He said softly with his signature smirk.

He held both my hands and brought them up to his lips kissing both of them. He let them go and held my face staring deeply in my eyes. "You're beautiful." I laughed not really believing him. "Okay, am going to have to convince you." Then he kissed me in front of his mother and best friend but as soon as his lips touched mine, I threw the embarrassment out the window.

I responded to his kiss and felt him smile then deepen the kiss. We kept kissing forgetting all around us until Tony cleared his throat.

"Okay lovebirds, you're in love we get the memo," he said pulling Max away from me. "but let's keep it PG for the love of God. Piece of advise my friends, leave some for the wedding night."
The two friends stared at me and my face heat up. Am going to die of shame before my supposedly wedding.
"She's so cute." Tony said chuckling while Max kept staring adoringly weird.

"Okay," Hilary clapped her hands together, "I think that's enough for one day and thank you Max for ruining your own wedding surprise. Now, you boys need to go play else where."

The two just rolled their eyes. Max kissed my cheek hurriedly and they ran out after his mom shooed them for the fifth time.

"He has it bad for you, you know." Cindy whispered behind me. I had forgotten she was there.
She approached and stood before me then tapped my shoulder nodding her head. "Why didn't you tell me you were getting married to the Max Conrad. You two are so cute together." She gushed hugging me tightly.

Cindy was bubbly and friendly and she wasn't as mean as the other sales' women who kept glaring at me like I did something wrong. She was the nicest which is why Hilary asked her to help us, she had also noticed their glares.

"Well, you never asked." I chocked out as her hug was making it hard to breath.

She pulled away playfully glaring at me. "How could I ask you when you were with your mother-in-law who may I say is so nice. Honestly, I hadn't been asked by an important client since...well forever."

And I don't deserve it. "Yeah, that's her alright. I never thought my mother- in-law would be so kind to me." I mumbled. "I think I don't deserve it."

Cindy rolled her eyes sighing. "You're such a miss modest, why do you think you don't deserve to be happy?"

You have no idea what I would pay so as to be happy. "I-I just..."

Cindy smiled. "It's okay Ms. Modest. Now let's get you out of this dress."

I couldn't help but smile. "Thank you very much. I'm not sure that I want to show this much skin again but I still love this dress."

"Yeah and he couldn't stop ogling at you." Cindy said nudging me with her elbow making me blush. "Okay, let's look for the dress you'll wear for your engagement party. Hopefully, your future husband won't ruin that surprise too."

A party? People come to parties...I-I can't. Why didn't they tell me? "A party? Are you sure? I-I didn't know that. Why didn't anybody tell me?" I asked starting to panic.

Cindy got confused. "Calm down, it's okay. I didn't know that you were so scared of crowds. You'll be okay, trust me. Now take a deep breath and exhale." She kept telling me to breath and doing strange gestures but she did manage to calm me down.

"Am fine." I finally said able to breath properly.

"Whew," Cindy whipped the imaginary sweat off her forehead, "one minute more and I would have joined you in the panic attack."

I laughed and she helped me out of the wedding dress. That's when Hilary returned with  arms full of gowns of all type and a wide smile plastered on her face.
"Okay we've gotten over the hardest, your wedding dress. Now we need to find you a gown that will make my Max unable to resist you at your engagement party." She sing sang the last part.

But am so tired and hungry. "About the party...do we really have to throw an engagement party. I'm not good with crowds." I finally admitted.

Hilary smiled warmly. "It's just family and very very close friends, I know you're frightened by crowds and I don't want you to feel awkward or something. Is it okay with you?"

I saw that she was trying her best to make me feel comfortable and really looked forward to that party. "I'll try to be less freaked out." I replied laughing and her smile widened.

They made me try different gowns, each one more beautiful than the previous one. I couldn't choose until Hilary presented me a dark blue gown. "It's Max's favorite color and I think it would look good on you. Go ahead and try it."

I tried it and it fit perfectly. It was long and covered my cleavage up to my neck but the back was bare except for two crisscrossing stripes that held the dress together at my shoulders. It was beautiful alright and Hilary was convinced that it was made for me which I highly doubt. We paid and I finally was allowed to eat something.

------------

I found Max sleeping on the couch with the TV still on looking passed out. Most times I wondered why he over worked himself while he had hundreds of people who would do everything for him.

"Max!" I yelled and he shot up but then lost balance and fell on the floor. I tried but I couldn't help but laugh.

He stood up and winced in pain. He looked hurt and I felt guilty.
"Are you hurt?" I asked checking him for any damages.

"I think my kidney is detached from my insides." He winced holding his left side. Oh God, am really stupid.

"Am so sorry, I just wanted to wake you up." I unbuttoned his shirt and pushed it over his shoulder to inspect his side. It had reddened and started to bruise. I touched it but he flinched away wincing.

I glanced at his face to finding him staring down at me with an amused smile.
He leaned in close to my ear. "You could just kiss it better." He whispered huskily.

I felt a shiver run down my body and my body wanted to give in to him but I was confused with how fast things were changing. One moment, I hated him for forcing me to marry him and the next thing I know we're kissing in front of his mother and the latter thinks we're soulmates or something.

He leaned in with a smirk in his lips and this intense desire in his eyes and I knew that if we kissed, I would never get the answers to my questions. I put a trembling hand on his chest and tried to push him back but the shivers running up and down my body made my attempt a waste.

I closed my eyes already giving in to the strong feeling of needing the man in front of me. I waited for his soft lips to touch mine but they never did as I felt him take a step back. "Maybe it's too much for you and too sudden, I'll give you some space and try to control myself." He emphasized on the try and I knew it wouldn't stop him from kissing me whenever he felt like.

I couldn't speak, he rendered me speechless but the way he looked at me like I was the most precious being in his eyes. You're right, it's too much...too sudden.
"I-I have to go to bed." I stuttered a little too louder than necessary then turned and walked away praying that I wouldn't stumble under his deep gaze.

I couldn't sleep and kept turning in the bed trying to get comfy enough to close my eyes but my mind was too occupied by memories of Max and I kissing. Why is it such a big deal, people kiss everyday Kelly and you're certainly not a stranger to that even though...he was your first kiss...

Urgh I just want to sleep. He doesn't even like me that way.

But you like him...

That did it, I closed my eyes and forced myself to sleep. I tried to ignore the question I asked myself before completely blacking out.

Would he ever like me back?
