Weeks pass by quickly.
Student Council meetings go by in a flash.
Ash and I finish our project presented it days ago.
I continuously help him with his song (the thought of Misty of being his crush is still there...)
And my feelings are starting to grow stronger every passing day... and that terrifies me.
Ash has his crush, and I have mine.
And I'm slightly hoping that it's me.
But what about Misty?
All these thoughts rapidly swirls in my head every moment.
And it makes me feel sick.
"Serena!" I jump out of thoughts again. It was Miette. I looked around and saw the rest of the student council decorating the gymnasium.
I looked down and saw I was holding streamers.
"The showcase is in two days, Serena! No time to daydream!" Miette waved her arms around frantically.
She's been stressing out a lot.
"Calm down, Miette. We've still got time, and we have people who are willing to help. Calm. Down," I tried my best to keep her breathing air. "Take a deep breath."
She shakily breathed in some air.
"And let it all out."
She exhaled. Miette seemed calmer now.
"Thanks, Serena, now go hang up those streamers!" Miette shooed me off with her hands. I scurried away, after all, I don't want any more stress on her shoulders.
I join Iris and two others into decorating the ceiling with streamers. While one of the two others is sensibly using a ladder, Iris is climbing the walls of the gymnasium and hanging them onto the ceiling.
"You're going to fall one day," I tell Iris when she comes back to the ground. She smiles and grabs more streamers. "And that'll be the day when May and Drew stop arguing."
I sighed as she climbed back up the wall.

I walk home alone, which gave me to me to think, which I did want to do.
What was weird was that none of the girls were here at school today. Other than Iris that showed up for the after school showcase decorating, I haven't seen any of them all day.
Plus, when I asked Iris if we could walk home together, she seemed to dodge my question and run away. I admit that that kinda hurt a bit.
Sighing as I walk up my front porch, I whip out my key and unlock the front door. Stepping in, I said quietly to myself, "Hey mom, I'm home. Not that you're ever here to hear me."
Flipping on a light switch nearby me, my eyes meet with a colorful banner that's strung high in the air.
"What?" I couldn't help but gawk at it's words. "Happy. Birthday... Serena?"
"Surprise!" Then out of nowhere, everyone popped out and scared the Arceus out of me. "Happy Birthday, Serena!" All of them shouted.
Misty, May, Dawn, Iris, Lillie, Mallow, Ash (*wince*), Gary, Drew, Kenny, and Miette too. And mom was here too.
"It's my birthday?" My jaw dropped. And so did everyone else's.
"You forgot your own birthday?" Misty asked, shocked. I just looked at everyone and laughed.
The party was amazing. The boys, May, and Iris had an eating contest from the large ice cream cake that Dawn brought (it gave them major brain freezes).
The games were fun to play too. Now... the gifts.
"Here, open mine first!" May shove an envelope towards me. Opening it, I pulled out a $20 gift card to a popular ice cream place nearby. "And you can take me with you!"
I laughed and thanked May for her gift.
Lillie and Mallow gave me sea shell necklaces from where they used to live.
Miette gave me a cute pink fedora.
And all the boys (excluding Ash) gave me money.
My mom's present was probably my favorited one so far.
"Here, open it Serena," She handed me a white box. Opening it, I saw an adorable pink dress (A/N: Imagine it as the showcase dress that she wore before cutting her hair.)
"I love it mom! Thank you!" I exclaimed, giving my mom a hug.
"Your welcome, Serena. I'm just glad that you like it," She said, stroking my hair.
Ash was next. He handed me a small box, a lot like my mom's. "Here, Serena. Sorry that it isn't the best, but I didn't have a lot of time to choose," He said, scratching the back of his neck.
Opening it, I found a spool of blue ribbon. "Thanks Ash," I smiled at him. "I love it anyway."
The fluttering in my chest didn't exactly go away when I looked at Misty, Dawn, and Iris. They all smiled at each other.
Misty went outside while Dawn picked up a large bag and Iris held out a card to me.
I opened it, to see a picture of an adorable fox dog with large ears, orange eyes, and a shy smile (A/N: Imagine Fennekin from Pokémon).
"Can you take care of me?" I read the words out loud next to the animal.
I looked up, questioning what's next when Dawn handed the large bag to me. I peered inside to see a items needed to take care of a fox dog.
"What?" I looked around, to see Misty come in, holding a dog crate. Everyone was quiet when she placed it down onto the ground.
She opened it, and out stepped the same fox dog from the picture inside the card that Iris gave me.
She looked around curiously, before landing her gaze onto me. Unexpectedly, she ran to me and jumped into my arms.
She snuggled into me as I buried my face into her soft fur and silently cried.
"Thank you guys so much," I choked out, looking up to see them.
Now I'll never be alone when my mom goes to work. Now I'll have someone who'll put the smile on my face when someone hurts me. Now I'll have someone who'll always be there and love me no matter my flaws.
"Okay, enough of this sappy moment, let's dance!" Gary yelled, standing up. "Who's with me?"
And we danced, competed, and had fun until nightfall.
When the neighbors called to complain and we had to turn it off, we talked about anything in life.
I sat on the couch, snuggling with Fennekin (Misty, Dawn, and Iris told me her name was Fennekin), watching everyone talk, laugh, tell jokes and stories.
I take a glance at Ash, who was laughing with Misty.
Almost as if she had sensed my heartache, Fennekin looked up to me and jumped off.
She dove into the messy pile of wrapping paper and came up with a bows stuck onto her.
I laughed and slid down to the floor to help her take off the bows. I touched the box that held the spool of blue ribbon that Ash gave me, slightly smiling.
At least I know that if Ash leaves to love another, Fennekin and all my friends will always be there.
