Chapter 7
A screeching sound of a cell door closing made me open my eyes, I groaned at the throbbing in my head. What did they do it be over the head with a brick? But on the other hand it could’ve been the fall I took afterwards. As the fog started to clear from my mind I saw the bars, the dark closed space, how it all seemed hopeless.
It felt like I was sinking, sinking back into the weak hopeless girl I used to be a year ago. In the corner I curled up into a ball and tried not to think of the bad things that happened this past year. Steps from the outside of the cell made me look up. It was only a guard, I slowly stood up and walked to the cell bars. I cringed as my wing moved in the slightest, “Can I speak to the luna.”
The guard looked at me as if I was insane. “Are you serious? The Luna doesn’t have time for you. So instead she sent down the second in command.” He smirked as some guy walked down the steps, he bowed his head. “Beta Drew.”
I looked at the Beta that walked down the steps, gracefully with poise, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have an authoritative gleam to him. “Chaz.” He smiled then frowned when he saw me. “Demon.” He growled as my very presence pestered him.
Iris materialized beside me and glared at him. “Who’s this hunky bastard?” Iris was right, he was rather attractive and she felt once they got the conversation going he would be a prick.
I looked to Iris. “That’s the Luna’s second in command, be nice.”
She seeked my silver eyes with her red ones. “It’ll take a lot for me to be nice to him.” She crossed her arms.
Chaz grabbed Drew a chair and he sat down and looked at me while leaning back in his hair. “That’s quite a wound you have on that wing of yours. Where’d you get it?” He asked as he watched me.
I looked back at it seeing that it was patched up but still bleeding, I looked back at him and responded. “Fighting some of the rogues that were on our property.”
He let the chair fall on all four legs. “Our property? No you’re mistaken the Shadow pack doesn’t associate with demons.” He shook his head.
I scuffed. “Are you kidding me, you haven’t heard about the infamous hybrid that’s been living here for the past few days.” I smirked. “I was brought in by one of your pack members, oh what was his name... Jaden?” I snickered. “The hybrid brought in - in a wedding dress, you must have heard of me.” I laughed.
Chaz the guard looked at me wide eyed. “So you’re Aglaia? The hybrid?” Chaz’s eyes twinkled with excitement.
I nodded. “I would show you my human form but my wing really hurts so that’s not an option.”
“It seems somebody likes the thought of something different.” Iris said leaning against the bars.
“Wait so she’s telling the truth?” Drew asked leaning in his chair. “You’re really apart of this pack.”
I rolled my eyes. “Yes I am, mind letting me out now so I can get some medical care for this wing.”
Chaz was looking between the two of us but Drew spoke. “I don’t believe you, I wouldn’t be the last one to know.”
I sighed. “I don’t know if this means anything to you but the luna personally invited me to the Alpha’s ball that’s supposed to be held in a couple days. I’d like to actually attend.”
The Beta Drew sat back in the chair. “That’s only for pack members, and if the Luna invited you personally then...”
I laughed. “Yeah I’m a pack member, now that you're up to speed can you let me out?”
He sighed and put the key in the lock, we were now face to face. So close I could smell his minty breath, I had to look up into his big brown eyes. “I’m watching you, remember that.” He growled then twisted the key and let me out, I walked out slowly then turned around.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” I winked and walked out of that depressing place. I walked slowly to my room and when I got I was in so much pain, as I lay there on my bed face down I tried not to move but the next thing I know Nana busts in my room.
“OH MY GOD are you okay?” She asked and sat on my bed.
I grunt. “Could you please get me the pack doctor?” I said as my breath started coming up short.
Nana didn’t say anything she just left, after a little while she came back with the pack doctor. My eyelids were drooping, but i was glad the pack doctor was there. When I woke up I felt so much better, I couldn’t even feel my wings anymore. Nana was still in the room.
“Hey are you feeling any better?” She asked and I nodded. “The pack doctor said that you were already recovering and that you didn’t need her, see your wing is already healed all the way. But she did give you something for the pain.”
I sat up and examined my wing then changed back to my regular self. “That Beta Drew is something else.” I sighed. “He doesn’t believe I’m apart of this pack. Is something wrong with his nose or something?”
Nana looked surprised at the question I just asked but she shrugged. “Well it is kind of hard to believe, but I’m not sure.” She sat down in my chair. “He’s followed around by a lot of ladies from our pack and others, even humans. It could be all the perfume that might have messed up his nose or something.”
“Did he tell the Luna about the rogues?” I asked.
“There were rogues on our territory?” She growled.
I nodded. “Yeah that’s how my wing got messed up.” After a moment of silence I spoke up again. “Do you think I’ll be able to bring Nick to the Alpha’s Ball?”
Nana shrugged. “I don’t know, usually we don’t let humans into our parties but I guess you’ll have to ask the Luna.” She looked to me. “What are you thinking about bringing him as your date?” She smirked.
I shrugged. “I don’t know I think it’ll be a good way to make up running out on him this morning.”
Nana’s eyebrows rose. “You ran out on him this morning? Why?”
“I’m guessing he loved this other girl, she probably played him and he’s still stuck on her .” I said annoyed. “But I can’t blame him, it’s hard getting over a lost love. He can’t just sever the bond like I can, it hurt like hell but I think it was worth it.” I shrugged, didn’t want to be tied to that bastard anyway.
“Wait, wait, wait, are you telling me that you were mated before you met Nick?” She leaned in her chair watching my face as I laid there looking up at the ceiling.
I nodded. “Yup I sure was, but now that we’ve been separated not any more.”
“How many mates can you have?
“I’m pretty sure I can have four, but it won’t be easy.” I muttered.
“Four! Dang you're screwed. Anyway why’d you break it off with the last one?”
“Because Devin’s a stupid, possessive, egotistical bastard that only cares about himself.” I seethed.
“Wow, is he a werewolf?”
I shook my head. “No he’s a Demon, actually he’s the demon prince.”
“So you’re his princ-” I mustered up the baddest glare I could and aimed it at her, she fake coughed. “Never mind.
“Yeah, I haven’t met my werewolf mate yet.” There’s two days until the party i’ll have to find a date quick. “Anywho, who’s going to be your date?” I wiggled my eyebrows as I looked up at her.
She blushed and looked down at her hands. “Oh I don’t have a date, I thought I’d just go alone.”
“Yeah uh no you’re not going alone, I’ll find you a date matter fact.” I smirked and got up from the bed. “There are so many hot guys here, I’ll find you the perfect one that’s not mated and everything.” I beamed, for some reason I was really excited about this.
Nana was a petite werewolf so I’d have to find her a tall guy, that’s sweet and able to hold his own....hmmm. While I was daydreaming about the perfect guy for Nana she almost slipped out of the room, I pulled her back. “Oh no you don’t, but since you’re so anxious let’s just find him now.” I winked at her then sauntered out of my room with her close by.
First it was around the pool that we looked..
Then it was in the living room....
Then the halls...
Then the game room...
Sighing we finally went to the dining room/kitchen to get something to eat, we both got a steak and potatoes and sat down at a table. I saw that we didn’t have any drinks so I walked over to get some and when I walked back I saw Nana and some tall guy hitting it off, I smirked.
“Damn I’m good...”
