The Team I Used to Know

Recalling our past seems like a dream
After tears fell like a mighty stream
This summer of regret is a summer to forget
Once you and I were no longer a team.

We bicker and fight in hopes of making things right
Just to end up crying ourselves to sleep at night
But the more we try, the harder we cry
And the less likely it is that our future is bright.

Throughout this battle, a person has died
My heart was broken and my hopes were fried
The brand new me wasn't who I wanted to be
But I couldn't go back, no matter how hard I tried.
