The wind blowing through my hair. The delicious smeel of a soft sea breeze filling my nose. This was the life I had been missing since I so reluntanly left it six years ago.

I spent the next three weeks swinging through the air on ropes, scaling up and down the mast, furling and unfurling the sails so that they would catch the wind at the perfect angle, searching the horizon for trouble, and in rare, wonderful, shortperiods of time, being taught the finer points of steering by Davy.

I climbing up the mast to the crows nest when I saw it. "Davy! There's something coming!" I yelled, half terrified, half unsure about the thing that was terrifying me.

"What is it?" he yelled back up to me.

"I'm− I'm not sure," I studdered. "But it looks bad."

He quickly made his way up to me, a worried look on his face. His eyes widened when he saw what I was looking at. "Oh no, here it comes," he muttered, more to himself than to me. Then, in a voice loud enough to be heard throughout the ship, he yelled, "Positions! To your positions! We've reached the whirlpools and there's a storm on the way!"

What before had looked like an angry, horrifying gaint rising out of the sea, I now realized was the dark, swirling waters of the whirlpool meeting the gray, thundering storm clouds at the horizon. I quickly climbed down the mast and started to secure boxes and lines to the deck. Soon Davy found Joe and told him to steer the ship. Then he came and helped me to secure the last of the boxes. Right as we finished, the ship lunched dangerously.

"Come on," he yelled to me, raising his voice so I could hear him over the sudden winds. "We have to make sure we draw in the sails a little so that these heavy winds don't flip the ship."

I nodded and we pulled ourselves up the mast to the ropes that controlled the sail. We pulled them in and made sure they were tied tightly and wouldn't come loose. By the time we gt to the next set of ropes the rain had picked up. It was not only drenching us, but also making it very slippery and hard to see. When I was pulling tight the last rope I lost my footing. I tried to regain my balance, but failed. I started to shout for Davy, hoping that he could help me steady myself, but it was to late. I was falling. Falling into the ocean. Where if I wasn't eaten by a shark or other sea creature, I would drown to death. I knew that once I hit the water it was all over. In conditions like these a rescue would be impossible. My life was surely over. Ended in a watery death.

Right as I was beginning to accept these awful facts I felt something grab my waist and I stopped falling. I was still flying through the air, but not falling. I looked and I saw Davy holding me and a rope. He had jumped off the mast, grabbed a rope, swung across the ship, and grabbed me in midair. That was probably the bravest thing anyone had ever done for me.

We landed lightly on a flat part of the mast and he gently put me down. I tried to thank him for what he had done, but he told me I could do that later and to get back to work before the ship sank.

We worked hard to make sure the sails were getting enough wind to get us out of there, but not so much that we would flip. Sometimes one of us would even have to go and help Joe turn the wheel, since the current was strong and it was hard to pull the boat away. It was difficult, but we did our best because we didn't have any other option. Soon we were almost out and it looked like we had a real good chance staying alive.

All of the sudden, I gasped. "Look!" I shouted pointing to a rope tied to a piece of wood right above the crow's nest. "It's coming untied! If that gets loose the whole mast will fall and we'll be sucked right into that whirlpool."

"I go get it," said Davy gallantly. "You stay here, it's way too dangerous."

"No way! I'm coming," I stated determinedly.

"Fine," said Davy reluctantly, obviously realizing we had no time to argue.

We climbed up the mast fast then I've ever seen two people climb. We helped each other at the hardest parts to save time and were soon at the loose rope.

"I'll tie it," said Davy. I nodded.

He tied the knot skilfully, making sure it wouldn't come loose again, while I held the sail in place so that a fast gust of wind wouldn't put Davy, the rope, and the entire sail into the ocean. Once it was finished we started to make our way down.

The crow's nest was slippery and hard to climb down. First he helped me down and I stood on the netting under it that we used as a ladder. He was starting to make his way over the crow's nest when his foot slipped on the wet wood and he fell. Without taking any time to think, I reached out my arm and grabbed his hand. He managed to hang on to my hand and I held him there, suspended in midair. If Unfortunately, I very strong so I was not only having trouble holding him up, but also having trouble hanging on to the rope netting. Both my hands were wet and slippery from the rain, but I wasn't letting go on either side. If I let him go, he would fall at least two hundred feet down and into the ocean, where he would die. If I let go of the rope , or it slipped out of my hand, we would both would fall.

"Just let go, Mandy. Before you fall, too," Davy said.

"No!" I told him fiercely. "I pull and you try to swing your legs forward so we can pull you up."

I began to pull pull with all my might. He swung his legs back and forth, getting closer to the netting each time. Eventually, with one final heave and a quick swing of his legs, he got on to the netting.

Since we were just getting out of the whirlpool, the boat was rocking violently. We quickly climbed up to the crow's nest, instead of risking one of us falling again. It was a tight fit, since the crows nest is normally only meant for one person.

"Thank you," he said, looking me in the eye.

"Your welcome, but I only did exactly what you had done for me a few minutes ago," I responded.

"No, what I did for you was easy, since your so light. But I weight much more than you, yet you somehow managed to pull me up," he said gently.

"Well, it wasn't like I could just let you die," I said obviously, not understanding what was so extordinary about what I had done.

At that moment, he cupped my chin in his hands and brushed his lips against mine. I was shock by this, and didn't respond. He quickly pulled away, looking embarrassed.

"I'm so sorry. I'm not sure why I did th−" his apology was cut off by my lips chrushing against his. I wrapped one arm around neck and put the other behind his head, while he wrapped both his arms around my waist. I not sure how long we kissed for. It felt like eternity while we were kissing, yet when we broke apart, it felt as if it were over to soon.

Then he smiled at me, his eyes twinkling happily, his teeth gleaming in the sunshine, and grabbed my hand and led me down the mast. When we reached the bottom, Mrs. Thorn gave me a knowing smile. I blushed back.

The rest of the day was uneventful, I didn't talk to Davy very much for the rest of the day or the beginning of the next day. Accasionally, he would wink or smile at me. I always responded with a blush, which for some reason he found hilarious. By two o'clock on the day after we survived the whirlpool we had reached port. According to Davy, the port was an island called Mio De Hairo and was originally under the control of the Spanish, until it was taken over by pirates a couple of years ago. A few of the people here had braved the whirlpool just like us, but most of them were from other parts of the world, since the island wasn't bordered by a whirlpool on both sides. Apartly we could have gone around the whirlpool, but it would have taken about two months since it is actually a long line of separate whirlpools. Davy seems to think that taking a detour to avoid danger is a waste of time. I sort of agree.

This is the first time I've ever been to a pirate port. Back when I was on a pirate ship with my parents they never allowed me to go to pirate ports. They said they were rough and dangerous. After the disappeared and left me with my aunt, I was allowed to do very little. My aunt was protective and afraid of any adventure. Exactly the opposite of my mother, who was her sister. She loved me though, and she only did what she thought was best for me. In fact, she was probably worrying herself crazy about me right now.

Hey! I been looking forward to writing this chapter since the story began. I'm sorry about the crappy ending, I realized how little I had said about her parents and Aunt. I could have sworn I'd written more about it. Okay, so unless I get at least two votes on this chapter I won't upload the next chapter. I'm sorry, it's just I really would like some votes. If you like the story enough to read it, why can't vote? Also, please comment or write a message or write a story summary if you have any spare time. i forgot to spell check it so ignore the typos. Thanks for reading!!!!!!! :)
