It was 10 in the morning and you were on your way to a cafe where you work. Well, technically, you already got to your work place, but you were asked to get some things in the grocery store real quick, hence why you're here.
While you were walking, your phone started beeping with a message. You took your phone from your pocket to check when suddenly you bumped into someone hard, which caused you and your stuff to fall.
Y/n : I'm so sorry.
?? : I'm sorry, are you alright?
Y/n : Yeah, I'm fine.
You said as you started collecting all your stuff and the person who you bumped into also helped.
You were about to take your phone when his hand brushed through yours, also trying to grab your phone for you, making you flinch. He took your phone from the ground and handed it to you while helping you get back up on your feet.
?? : Are you sure you're alright?
Y/n : Yes, thank you for helping.
You looked up to see a tall guy, a very tall guy. He had black hair and was wearing a mask, but anyone can tell that he's handsome. You couldn't help but lock eyes. But you quickly shook your head to get back to your senses and bowed to him.
Y/n : Thank you and sorry again.
?? : No problem, I'm sorry too.
You left after giving him a small smile, then you just realized something that made you stop in your place.
*Y/N'S POV*
"Isn't he Niki? From ENHYPEN? He looked awfully familiar. I can't believe it, but too bad that I'll never be able to see him again."
You continued walking.
*MEANWHILE NIKI'S POV*
"That girl, why does she look kinda familiar? Have I seen her before? Maybe in fansign events? Or not?"
I was about to walk away when I felt like I was stepping on something. I looked down to see a ring, I realized that it probably belonged to that girl. I quickly ran to the direction she went.
*A/N'S POV*
You were walking to your workplace when you suddenly heard someone yell.
Niki : Excuse me! Miss! Wait!
You turned around to see the same guy running to you.
Niki : I think you dropped this. Is this yours?
He showed you your ring and you heart stopped beating for a second as you looked at your right hand to see your ring was not there.
Y/n : Oh my god, thank you. I didn't realize I lost it. Thank you so much.
You said as you wore it back to your right middle finger.
Niki : You're welcome. That ring means a lot to you, I suppose?
Y/n : It was my grandmother's.
You said as you smiled at him and he nodded.
Niki : Uhm, I'm sorry to ask this out of the blue, I think I'll regret it if I don't. I think you're cool and nice, and I'd like to get to know you. So is it ok if I ask for your Insta account?
You were stunned for a moment and your silence made him nervous.
Niki : You don't have to if you're not comfortable with it.
Y/n : No, it's ok.
You exchanged phones and showed each other's account, and he said that he'll DM you later.
Niki : I'm Niki, by the way.
Y/n : I know.
Niki : You know?
You nodded.
Niki : Why didn't you say anything?
Y/n : I thought it would make you feel uncomfortable.
He smiled hearing that.
Niki : What's your name?
Y/n : Y/n.
Niki : It's nice to meet you, Y/n.
Y/n : You as well, Niki.
Suddenly your phone rang, making you realize the time.
Y/n : Oh no, I'm late, I have to go now. Goodbye, Niki.
You said as you ran.
Niki : Bye.
*TIME SKIP AT NIGHT*
*Y/N'S POV*
I was chilling on my bed in my room when my roommate and also bestfriend, Eunji, talked to me while drying her hair.
Eunji : So why were you late? We didn't have time to talk just now.
Y/n : I bumped into someone and fell on the way back.
Eunji : You're alright though, right?
I nodded.
Eunji : Who did you bump into?
Y/n : You're not gonna believe me if I tell you.
Eunji : Oh come on! Just tell me.
Y/n : It was Niki.
Eunji : Oh...
She thought for a while then looked at me in shock.
Eunji : Wait, Niki as in THE famous Niki? From ENHYPEN?
I nodded at her. She gasped dramatically and went to sit on my bed.
Eunji : What happened after? Spill!
Y/n : Actually I lost my ring and I didn't realize it. It must have fallen when I bumped into him.
Eunji : And then?
Y/n : He found it and returned it to me.
Eunji : And then?
Y/n : He asked for my Insta account.
She squeeled out loud which made me giggle.
Eunji : And then?
Y/n : And then I ran back to the cafe cause I was late.
Eunji : Aww.. That was too short.
She whined.
Y/n : Well what were you expecting? We just met.
Eunji : I thought he would take you somewhere private where you could talk or do other things in peace.
I shook my head.
Y/n : I swear, your imagination is too wild, Eunji.
Just then my phone beeped. I checked who it is, turns out it was Niki.
*TEXT*
Niki : Hey, are you busy?
Y/n : No.
Niki : What are you doing?
Y/n : Nothing in particular, just texting you while talking to my roommate. What are you doing?
Eunji who noticed my attention diverted to my phone asked.
Eunji : Who is it?
Y/n : Niki.
Eunji : Really? He really texted you? I wanna see.
She said and looked at my phone just as another text from him appeared.
*TEXT*
Niki : Nothing, just thinking about the girl I bumped into.
She squeeled.
Eunji : Oh my god! He's flirting! Text him back.
*TEXT*
Y/n : Did you bump into another girl?
Niki : No, just you.
She squeeled again right next to my ear and shook my body furiously, which made me wince and cover my ear.
Eunji : I think he really likes you.
Y/n : We just met, Eunji. There's no way he'll like someone this quick.
Eunji : You never know~ Anyway I'm going to bed, you go ahead and keep chatting your prince charming.
I shook my head, seriously this girl is unbelievable.
But why does he look so familiar? Like I've met him before.
*MEANWHILE IN ENHYPEN'S DORM*
*A/N'S POV*
The whole day, Niki could only think of you, he felt something that he has never felt before. His behavior didn't go unnoticed by his members, it was pretty obvious as he has been daydreaming and smiling more the whole day.
Now he's lying in his bed, still thinking about you.
Sunoo : Yah! Niki!
Niki : Huh? What?
Sunoo : I have been talking to you for five minutes now, you're not even listening.
Niki : Sorry hyung.
Sunoo : What is up with you today? You're so out of it.
The leader who has been observing him the whole day also joined the conversation.
Jungwon : Yeah. What's going on with you today?
Niki : Nothing.
Jungwon : Nah, we don't believe you.
Sunghoon : You have been daydreaming the whole day, Niki.
The oldest in the room said as he was drying his hair.
Sunoo : We even caught you smiling a few times.
Niki : I was?
They all nodded and he can only sigh in defeat.
Niki : I bumped into someone this morning.
Sunoo : And?
Niki : She looked kinda familiar.
Sunghoon : She? You bumped into a girl?
He nodded.
Jungwon : Is she a friend?
Sunoo : Yah, he's from Japan, how can he suddenly bump into a friend? Or is it a friend from Japan?
Niki : No, I met her for the first time today. So I might have... uhm...
Sunoo : What? You what?
Niki : I asked for her Insta account.
The three other members looked at each other for a moment before they burst out laughing, which confused Niki.
Niki : What? What's so funny?
Sunghoon : Ayyy~~ You could have just said that you were attracted to her~
Niki : What? No, that wasn't the reason.
The other members who heard the commotion came in the room.
Heeseung : What's going on?
Jungwon : Our Niki has a crush~
Jake : Really?
Jay : Really?
Niki : I told you that was not it!
Sunoo : You asked for her Insta account and you were daydreaming and smiling the whole day. There's no way it's because you were not attracted.
Sunghoon : Our Niki is all grown up~
Niki : Hyung~~ That wasn't it~~
He said whining.
They all laughed as they think the youngest is adorable. Usually he would be the one who would tease them, but now it's the opposite.
Jay : Your face is all red, Niki-san~
Jake : Cute~~
Heeseung : Ok, ok, that's enough. But why would you ask for her account if that wasn't it?
Niki : She just looked familiar, I feel like I've met her before.
Jungwon : Did she recognize you?
Niki nodded.
Jake : Maybe you've seen her in fansigns?
Jay : Why don't you ask her? Since you already have her account.
Niki : Right.
He opened his phone and DMed her.
After he asked her what she was doing, he went to the bathroom for a moment and left his phone on the bed.
Sunghoon and Jungwon were feeling a little mischievious and responded on his behalf.
When he returned, he was shocked to see them holding his phone.
Niki : Hyung! What did you do?
Jungwon & Sunghoon : Nothing.
He took his phone and was shocked to see their response to her, saying that he was thinking about her.
Niki : Ah hyung! Why would you do that?
Sunoo : Their response wasn't that bad.
The rest could only giggle and shake their heads.
Jay : Niki, ask her if she's ever been to fansign events.
*TEXT*
Niki : Y/n, I wanna ask out of curiosity. Are you an ENGENE?
Y/n : Yes.
Niki : Then have you ever been to fansigns or other events?
Y/n : Unfortunately, no. I haven't been able to go to any events.
That answer made him even more confused.
Niki : She said she has never been to any events.
Others were just as confused.
Jake : Then how could you feel like you've met her before?
Niki : I don't know, hyung, I'm just as confused.
Heeseung : Maybe it's just a false alarm? Anything could happen.
Heeseung's words caused Niki to have second thoughts, but still, he couldn't fully shake it off.
*TIME SKIP*
Niki and Y/n's relationship has been going smoothly. At first it was just friendship, but then their feelings grow to something more and they started dating. Niki felt like he wants to protect her from the world, and she feels exactly the same.
But what's wierd about it is that they feel like they've known each other for a long time.
A lot of people feel that when they meet a good friend or a good person to hang with, but they literally feel like they've met before.
At first they thought it was just because their personality match so well together, but as time goes by, weirder things kept happening.
Like they would know what their likes and dislikes are without telling the other person, it even surprised the members.
There was this one time when Y/n was invited to their dorm to have dinner. They were talking about fishing and Jake asked Niki.
Jake : Who taught you about fishing, Niki?
Y/n : Your dad taught you when you were seven, right?
Niki : Yeah.
Jungwon : Did Niki tell you about it, Y/n?
Niki : Wait, how did you know? We've never talked about anything related to fishing, right?
You thought for a moment and he was right.
Y/n : No, we never talked about it.
Sunoo : Wait, then how did you know?
Y/n : I don't know, I just do.
Jay : You even guessed the age right.
Everyone was feeling sus, even Y/n was also weirded out by herself, but they all decided let it slide.
For dinner, Jay cooked korean food and they ordered Bingsu for dessert. Since the dessert bowl was quite big, they all decided for every 2 person to share 1 bowl.
Y/n and Niki shared the chocolate flavor, but Niki kept stealing strawberries from Sunoo and Jungwon's bowl.
Sunoo : Niki, if you want strawberries, you should have just ordered the strawberry flavored ones.
Niki : Y/n is allergic to strawberries, so no.
While everyone was busy teasing Niki for being a considerate boyfriend, Y/n was confused.
Y/n : Wait. Niki, how did you know? I've never told you that.
Everyone looked at him as he thought for a while.
Niki : How did I know that?
Heeseung : Niki, what else is Y/n allergic to? 1,2,3!
Niki : Methampyrone.
Jay : Really?
Jake : Is that true?
Y/n : That's true, but how did you know?
Niki : I don't know, I just do.
Sunoo : You've never told him that?
Y/n shook her head.
Sunghoon : You two are getting weirder and weirder.
Jungwon : Maybe you did talk about it but you forgot?
That day all your questions were left unanswered.
Another weird incident for you two, one day you were out on a date. You went to a nearby park to get some fresh air, and Niki offered to get you ice cream.
While waiting for him, you see a bunch of kids falling while carrying boxes of flowers. So you went to them and helped them.
Niki, who was watching you from afar and smiling, had a sudden "vision" of you gardening.
It's like a flash of memory suddenly appeared in his mind, which dazed him as he has never seen you gardening before.
Before he could question himself further, a guy riding a scooter suddenly passed by almost crashing to one of the girls.
If it weren't for Y/n who pulled the kid in her arms, she could have gotten hurt badly, but it also resulted on Y/n falling.
Niki ran to her to check on her only to see one of her leg bleeding from the fall.
Seeing her bleeding, another flash of memory appeared in his mind, a memory of Y/n's legs bleeding and burnt badly. Her face lifeless, she looked like she was going to die.
He quickly carried her in his arms and took her to a nearby drug store. He bought some ointment and bandage, then he sat her down and treated her leg.
Y/n : Niki, I'm fine.
Niki : Sshh!
Y/n : Niki, it's fine, really.
Niki : Stay still, Y/n.
She sighed and let him be. She observed his face and saw how distressed he was. Once he was done, she cupped his face.
Y/n : Niki, are you ok?
He looked at you and his eyes were teary.
Y/n : Niki, what's wrong?
He hugged you and a tear escaped.
Y/n : Niki, what happened? Did I scare you?
He nodded.
He was scared of seeing you in that condition, he was scared of losing you.
Even though it's only been a few months since you've dated, he cares for you and loves you so much.
You patted his back and gently caressed his hair.
Y/n : It's ok, Niki. Ssh.. It's ok, everything is ok.
Two days later, when Y/n was visiting the boys at their dorm, Niki asked Y/n to stay over for the night because it was getting quite late.
She refused at first as she didn't want to bother them, but he insisted, so she just gave in.
While waiting for Niki on his bed, Y/n fell asleep. Niki was in the dining room talking with the other members.
Niki : Hyung, I have to tell you guys something.
Jay : What is it?
Niki : Something weird happened a couple of days ago while I was out with Y/n.
He told them what happened and about his flashbacks. They listened attentively and tried to think of a solution.
Niki : Am I getting crazy, hyung?
Jay : Probably not.
Jake : How do you know?
Jay : I've read an article about some things like this. Flashbacks.
Heeseung : I have, too.
Sunoo : What did you find?
Jay : It could be a psychological thing. From what I've read, flashbacks could be memories. Memories of past events.
Heeseung : It could occur to people who had traumatic experiences.
Jake : Niki, you said you had a flashback of Y/n bleeding. Have you ever seen someone bleed like that when you were younger?
He shook his head.
Niki : I've never seen anything like my flashbacks.
Sunoo : Or could it be?
Jungwon : What is it, hyung?
Sunoo : This might sound crazy, but what if it's a memory from his past life?
Jungwon : It is kinda hard to believe, but it's not impossible.
Sunghoon : I have seen a video of people who have phobias finding out why they have them by going to therapy.
Jay : Yeah, hypnosis therapy.
Jungwon : Excuse me, I need to grab something real quick.
He said and went to his shared room with his other 3 members, where Y/n is currently sleeping in.
Niki : You think that would work?
Heeseung : Not sure, but we have to start somewhere. And it could maybe answer all your questions.
Jungwon : Niki, it's Y/n. Come quick.
Jungwon said as he got out of the bedroom and they all went to see what's going on.
Turns out Y/n was mumbling and fidgeting in her sleep, her forehead covered with sweat, like she was having a nightmare.
Niki went to her side, attempting to wake her up.
Y/n : No.. please.. please.. no.. Niki.
Niki : Y/n? Y/n, wake up.
Y/n : Niki!
She yelled and woke up with a flinch, gasping for air.
Niki : Y/n, what's wrong? Y/n.
He said and held her shoulders to help her sit.
Seeing Niki in front of her all fine, she quickly hugged him and started crying.
Niki : Hey, did you have a nightmare?
She nodded.
Niki : Hey, ssh.. It's ok, you're ok.
Y/n : N-Niki, they were beating you up right in front of me. Y-you were dying. It felt so real.
Niki : It's ok, Y/n. I'm here with you, I'm fine. It's just a dream. It's just a dream.
He said as he fondled with her hair and hugged her back, trying to soothe her.
Other members who watched the scene couldn't help but worry.
First, they know each other without telling the other person.
Second, Niki had flashbacks of Y/n in a lifeless condition.
Now, Y/n had a nightmare of Niki dying. They all decided in unison, the two of them really need to seek help to solve their unanswered questions.
*TIME SKIP*
On the weekend, they made an appointment with an experienced counselor and they made an arrangement to meet at their dorm.
Niki told Y/n about his flashbacks and talked to her about the appointment as well, and she agreed. Y/n was nervous of what's to come, what they'll find out.
When the counselor came, they talked about their problem first then they started the hypnotherapy. Niki and Y/n were sitting on the couch, while the members just watched.
Counselor : Just relax, and listen to my instructions.
With the counselor's instructions, soon the two were in deep sleep while their minds were traveling, taking them to a different time and space.
Counselor : Niki, tell us, where are you? What do you see around you?
Niki : I was in a community garden. A lot of people around me.
Counselor : What are you all doing?
Niki : We were fixing a machine.
Counselor : Y/n, do you see that garden as well?
Y/n : Yes.
Counselor : What are you doing in that garden, Y/n?
Y/n : We were planting crops.
Counselor : Niki, do you see Y/n in that crowd?
Niki : Yes.
Counselor : Y/n, do you see Niki?
Y/n : Yes.
Counselor : Ok, now take a deep breath and go further. Where are you now? What do you see around you?
Y/n : A secret garden. A lake, trees, flowers, stars, moon.
Counselor : Niki, do you see that secret garden?
Niki : Yes.
Counselor : Do you see her?
Niki : Yes.
After that, they went back to when Y/n and Niki met up in the garden to break up, the both of them remembered every single word that they said to each other.
After they took a break, they continued and went back to when Niki asked Y/n to run away together after discovering the truth of where they live in their past life.
Y/n : No. Please.
Counselor : What is it, Y/n? What do you see?
Y/n : Guards, surrounding us.
Counselor : Why did they do that?
Y/n : We got caught.
Counselor : Why did they arrest you, Niki?
Niki : We weren't suppose to be seen together.
Counselor : What happens next?
Niki : Y/n. Stop, don't hurt her.
Counselor : Who's hurting her, Niki?
Niki : The leader.
Counselor : What did they do to her?
Niki : They burnt her legs.
Counselor : Y/n, tell me what's happening.
Y/n : It hurts.
Counselor : Are they torturing you?
Y/n : Yes.
Counselor : What about Niki? What happened to him?
Y/n : They were beating him up.
Counselor : What happens next?
Y/n : We were taken to public.
Counselor : Niki, what is happening there?
Niki : They were executing us.
Counselor : What happens next?
Niki : Y/n, no.
Counselor : What happened to Y/n?
Niki : She saved me.
He said as a tear escaped from his eyes.
Counselor : Y/n, what do you see?
Y/n : Niki, they shot him.
After that the counselor woke them up.
Y/n : Niki?
She called out and hugged him.
Niki : I'm so sorry, love. I couldn't protect you, I'm sorry.
He said as tears continued to roll down and he hugged her tighter. She shook her head.
Y/n : What I did was my choice.
They told the members what they saw, the members were stunned.
Even after going through so much, they were still able to find each other, they were really meant to be.
*TIME SKIP*
Y/n and Niki were watching the night sky on her apartment's balcony. Her head leaning onto Niki's shoulder.
Niki : What are you thinking?
Y/n : Nothing, just. I thought it's a miracle that we were able to find each other even in this life.
He chuckled.
Niki : Fate is something else, I'm thankful that we bumped into each other that day. You know, when we first met, I thought that you looked familiar.
Y/n : I thought so too, but I thought I might have been mistaken because I've seen you a lot on the internet.
They giggled and Niki looked at Y/n.
Y/n : Why are you staring at me like that?
Niki : Beautiful.
Y/n : All of a sudden?
She said flustered and looked at him.
Niki : Hey, I mean it.
They smiled, he pulled her in closer and connected their lips. They pulled away as he caressed her cheek with his thumb. Their eyes filled with adoration for each other.
Niki : I love you always, My Y/n.
Y/n : I love you too, My Niki.
He gave her forehead a kiss.
