Story Unfolds :
At a small secluded house at the outskirt of Hastinapur:
One beautiful girl was sitting lazily on the kitchen garden. Alone. She had no companion here. One year had passed away out of blue. She forgot to count the time. She forgot even herself. She was living here in a secluded house all alone. She sent away her five sons to their father and elder mother in the hope that they would get a good and royal upbringing. She knew it quite by heart that even if their beloved father was now enraged on herself, he could not get rid of those boys as he loved all of them tenderly. And it proved to be completely correct assumption. He did not neglect his duties as a father and was preparing those boys in his own hands. He was not only their father, but also their mentor and Guru too. She received every news of their daily routine. From her Jiji who had urged her to come back several times. Yet she ignored the pleading. As she knew that she had to abandon her place for the sake of her baby sister Uruvi. Yes you guessed right. She was none but the main female protagonist of our story Devi Supriya herself.
Devi Supriya (2nd wife of Karna)
She recalled the day when he went away from her house. In anger. He did not a bit stopped nor he looked back. He did not know that even with great effort she stood up and ran behind him. She had fallen down. She had cut off her knees. She had touched the dust of the floor. With devotion. She had banged her head on the threshold from where he refused to enter. She lost her consciousness for three more days. She had been saved by the royal doctor sent by her dear sister Bhanu and Jijiashree Duryodhan. She was too weak to get up since then. For a Month. Her body was weak. Her mind was vacant. Her soul hurt. Her heart was broken. She refused to go with her Jiji Bhanumati who requested Her thousand times to live with them in the royal palace of Hastinapur. She politely declined her demands.
"Su, tuh bahat hat karne lag gayi hain. (Supriya, you are becoming adamant truly.)" Bhanu told her grumpily. She wanted her baby sister to reside with herself. She failed to comprehend the nature of Supriya!!!
Devi Bhanumati (sister of Supriya)
Supriya just smiled brightly at her. In decline. She did not a bit want to be a burden on her sister.
Bhanu made a disappointed face. This sister of hers was beyond her own understanding!!! She abandoned her state. She sent away her sons. She had refused the help of Uruvi. She even had declined to take any aid from her husband Karna. She wanted to suffer and she wanted to do that in complete seclusion.
"Tuh bhi na!!! Wahan Kanrna bhaiya ne Uru ko apna liya hain. Teri mansa purn ho gayi. Ab toh bas kar!!! (You are an enigma really!! Everything has gone according to your plan. Uruvi has been given the recognition of the lawfully wedded wife of brother-in-law Karna. Stop it now!!)" Bhanu told her again.
"Mere chinta mat kiya karo. Main thik hoon. Purnata. (Don't worry about me. Unnecessarily. I am all right.)" She assured her sister in vain.
She did not know that Bhanu had been completed her task. To inform about her poor hungry condition. To someone special. At Anga. This girl played important character in the each and every love story of Karna!!! In the case of Uruvi she and Charu would soon bring her at Anga along with themselves. In the case of her sister Supriya she had informed a near and dear ones to her.
"Jiji!!! Apne Santanwoke chinta karo. Mere nahin." Supriya told her calmly.
Bhanu lifted her eyes angrily to the face of her baby sister. She did not a bit interested in her explanation. She had seen her distress in her very own eyes. She had seen her Supriya to sell her all ornaments one by one. To buy foods. Nowadays she could not make idols anymore. She stopped doing that after her recent pregnancy and her dear husband's refusal. Bhanu was so scared for her Su!!! Supriya was not her sister, but a daughter to her. She promised to look after her to her dead mother. Apsara Rambha. But she had failed in her endeavour. She felt quite low and frustrated yet she did not be able to understand the heart of her baby sister. It seemed as if her Su had put on a mask after that unfortunate incident. She had put on a "durvedya Kavach" (indestructible armor) now around herself.
"Jiji!!" Supriya called for Bhanu who made a face and got up.
"Main chalti hoon. (I am going now.)" By telling this she hurriedly in her confident strides went away leaving bewildered Supriya behind.
...........................
At Anga: Inside a royal chamber:
A girl was busy talking with her baby. The baby was now doing a mischief. It was not a bit interested in drinking milk. She tried every trick but the baby gargled and threw the milk out of his mouth rapidly. She felt quite frustrated!!! What a naughty child he was going to be!!!
All of a sudden she heard a clear whisper in her ears gently
"Jiji!!!"
She lifted her eyes to the sky and then murmured softly "Kyun chali gayi, Su tuh?!! Ab Vrishi ko kyon samhalega?!! Mujhse nahin samhalta woh!! Ake ap ne Lalla ko Swayam samhal!!! (Why did you went away, Supriya?!! Now, tell me, who will take care of your son Vrishi?!! I can't handle him. Come and take care of him all by yourself.)" in moister eyes.
The baby giggled merrily and made a sound in his throat "Ga.. Gaa.." that sounded like "Ja.. Jaa.. (Go.. You go to her.)"
She looked softly at the face of the happy baby and then hugged him in her arms too tightly. She kissed it's forehead lovingly and uttered slowly "Mere jane se woh nahin ayegi, Vrishi. Tere Maiya bari ziddi hain. (I can go but she will not come. This trick is not handy in her case. She is your mother and adamant just like you.)"
Young Vrishi or Vrishaketu
The baby once again giggled merrily and made a sound "Ga.. Gaa.." that sounded to her as if he was not a bit believing in her theory.
She looked at it helplessly and was trying to think a way when she heard the voice of a guard from her open door front
"Rajkumar Vrishasen pradhar rahe hain. (Prince Vrishasen is entering into the premise.)"
She wiped her tears gently and smiled brightly. She got an idea!!! Now she knew what to do to bring her Supriya back!!!
.....................
At the same room: 1 hour later:
A boy of thirteen was nodding his head dismissively. He was not a bit in the favor of this idea of his mother's!!!
He did not know how he could be able to convince his Choti Ma when none could convince her!!! To come back to her state!!! Before himself!!!
"Mate, asambhab. (Mother, it seems impossible to me.)" He told it politely to his mother.
She arched her right eyebrow slightly in question mode. She did not a little bit understand his reason of refusal.
"Mate, jab Pitashree ne unhe nahin mana sake, toh main kyse?!! (When even father failed to convince her, then how can I be successful in this endeavor?!!)" He asked her in shock.
She came near him and ruffled his hair in affection while answeing his question firmly "Jahan Pati ke dawra sampt ho jata hain, wohise santan ke dawra suru hota hain. Jahan swami asafal hota hain, wohi Putra safal hota hain. (Where a husband's effort get limited, there the son's effort starts. Where a husband fails the son can win.)" Then she added with a soft sigh "Tuh nahin samjhega. Tuh ek Mata nahin hain!!! Ma ka Man, uske Prem Samudra ke bhati biswal hota hain. Woh apne Putra ke liye Mrityu se bhi lad Jati hain. (You don't be able to comprehend that. The loving heart of a mother for her son is so huge like an ocean. It is endless. She can bring her son back from the clutches of the death too.)" How wonderfully Padma had comprehended the nature of her baby sister Supriya!!! Supriya was in deathbed when her all sons, except Vrishi, died prematurely. But she truly admired her death after the demise of her Vrish or Vrishasen!!!!
Devi Vrushali (1st wife of Karna)
The boy looked at her face in awe. She looked so happy to send her son to his stepmother!!! He was so proud of his mother!!!
He sat down and touched her feet in respect and love. He promised her
"Main, Karna Putra Vrishasen, apne Mata se yeah vachan deta hoon ki bina apne Choti Ma Supriya ke wapas nahin ayunga. (I Vrishasen, the elder son of Karna, vow to my mother that I will not come back without my little mother Supriya!!!)"
She bent down and put her right palm on his head and then had blessed him wholeheartedly
"Vijayi vab (Be successful)."
The boy in confident manner got up and touched her feet dust in his both eyes. Then he went out of the room.
She stood there. Alone yet proud. She had read the last letter sent by Bhanu and was worried for her Su since then. Now she was sanguine that only Vrish could convince her. To come back again. To her own kingdom. Where all of her beloved ones were awaiting eagerly for her arrival.
.............................
15 days later: At the same house of Hastinapur:
Supriya was seen sitting at her small kitchen floor with vacant eyes. The foodgrains had ended. The rice pot was already empty. She went to a small pot and lifted it's lead. It was empty too. She sighed deeply. Not a single grain of food was in house!!!
She made a face. Her baby sister Uru told to come to meet with her today. She had to give a news to her. At that time Karna and Uruvi was already united in body and soul. Supriya had sensed it but she had no knowledge as she did not live with her in-laws. Like her baby sister Uruvi. She loved to stay in complete seclusion. Alone. So that none could ask her the reason of their separation. She was separated from her God but she did not want to blame him for her this poor condition a bit. She herself was guilty. Not him. You can see her devotion to him was still the same!!! Even after his love and attention towards Uruvi!!!
All of a sudden she sensed that some boyish touch. On her eyes. A boy was standing tall behind her back and he now mischievously put his own both palms to blindfold her eyes.
She touched the palms in her both palms too and with a smile asked him tenderly "Tuh kab aya, Vrish?!! (When did you come, Vrishasen?!!)"
The boy made a sound of displeasure and left her eyes. Then he hugged her tightly from behind and whispered in her ears softly "Ap aise mujhe kyse pehchan gaye, Choti Ma?!! (How can you recognize me, little mother?!!)" He was shocked.
She smiled brightly and dragged his face to herself and pecked on his forehead gently. She knew that he did not want to be kissed by his mother as he was now a teenager. She realized the psychology of a teenager Boy!!! But he failed to comprehend that a boy was always the little boy to his mother!!! He was still the three years old toddler Vrish to herself who ran behind her clutching the end of her Saree!!!
She had answered him truthfully "Ma hoon teri. Tere har swas se parichit hoon. (I am your mother. I know every breathing of yours.)"
He made a face and then hugged her neck tightly. In love and adoration. This boy loved his little mother more that his own mother Padma!!! His own childhood memories were full of her pictures!!!
"Maiya, bhook lagi hain. Bhojan kara. (Mother, I am famished. Let me eat anything.)" He demanded from her. Like his early childhood.
She had looked at him and pulled him closer. Then she had replied him "Tuh tanik baith. Hath muh doh. Main abhi ati hoon. (You seat for a while. Wipe the face. I am coming soon.)" She had suppressed the truth that she had not a single food in her house!!!
Then she ran away. In great speed. To fetch the ingredients. She didn't know from where!!! She just knew one thing her Lalla, Her Vrish, wanted to eat at her hands. She had to make food for him. At any cost!!!!
She failed to notice that the boy's eyes were now flooding in tears. He was not a fool himself. He understood by seeing the condition of her house that she had nothing to eat!!! Her Vrish had the qualities to read her mind perfectly!!!
...........................
3 hours later: At the same house:
She made several dishes. Simple one but favourite of her son. Rice and fish curry. Simple choice. Just like his dear father Karna.
She had tore down a piece of fish and
lifted the rice and curry. To his mouth.
He nodded his head dismissively. He was not ready to eat.
She narrowed his eyes in shock. What was going on here?!! He himself said that he was starved and now he had himself declined to eat!!
He made a ball of rice and lifted his hands to her mouth and demanded with authority "Pehle tuh kha, Maiya. (First your turn, mother.)" He realized that she was herself famished for days now!!! He could not eat unless she ate in his hands!!!
Within a second her eyes got blurred in tears. Only a son could be able to tell whether his mother had eaten or not!! Vrish comprehended it!!! Like a good son of Supriya!!!
She opened her mouth agape and took a bite. From his hand. Then he took his bite on her hands. They both cried yet they both were so happy!!!
Devi Uruvi (3rd Wife of Karna)
She failed to notice that someone else was watching them from the open window. She was crying fanatically. She too had brought lunch for her Jiji but she was late now!!! Her Jiji had already eaten her lunch!!! From her son Vrish!!! She sighed deeply and looked at his wonderful mother-son moment for the last time. She herself was dying to be introduced with her first son!!! Then with a soft sigh she left the food on the floor and faded away. She got hold of the heart of her husband and sister Supriya but till mow Vrishasen did not admit her as his mother. Yes you guessed right. She was none but the adored baby sister of Supriya, Devi Uruvi herself.
"Maiya, dekh mere pass kya hain. (See what I have with me, mother.)" By telling this with a naught smile Vrish produced a gold bracelet.
Vrishasen (Second son of Karna)
Supriya with her gold bracelet
Supriya opened her black eyes wide in shock. To her dismay, it was the same bracelet that she had to sell to buy foodgrains and the ingredients!!! From where a younh Boy had got hold of it?!!! She looked at his face in utter disbelief and eyes full of questions.
"Wahan se Mila, Maiya, jahan tune becha tha!!! (I brought it again from the same person who you sold it!!)" Her son told her truthfully. In reality he had followed her and gave double money to the jeweler to whom she had sold the bracelet!!! He had spent all of his pocket money given by his real mother Padma to buy the golden bracelet of his little mother Supriya!!
She put her both palms over her own mouth and cried aloud. She did not a bit realized when he got so matured!!!
Then she dragged him to herself and pecked softly on his forehead. With love and adoration. He had made her proud as a mother!!!
"Kyun Kiya aisa bol?!! (Why have you done this?!! Tell me!!)" She asked him in shock. Her eyes were flooded with tears now.
He hid his flustered face in her chest and answered in choked voice "Maiya tuh mere Bhagwan hain. Main tujhe aise nahin dekh sakta. (Mother, you are my God. I can't see you in this distress.)" The boy was crying too. As he had no idea why his mother looked so proud of himself!!! He did not a bit understood that he made his mother proud of her Lalla once more!!
