"Someone's up early today." Your manager commented as soon as you walked inside the bakery, welcomed by the smell of delicious baked goods.

"Yeah, yeah." You rolled your eyes as you walked towards the back of the shop and into the locker room. There, you set your bag down in your locker before grabbing the beige apron and putting it on.

"Y/N, I'm going to go ahead and deliver an order to a customer. Take care of the shop for me." Your manager shouted from the front.

"You got it!" You shouted back with a smile.

As the day dragged on, the bakery only got more and more busy as you tried to serve each and every customer. Until your eyes landed on a certain man who made your heart skip a beat.

And as if he felt you looking at him, he turned his head in your direction and caught you staring at him. The thin line that was his lips then turned into a smirked expression when he saw you blushing, but neither of you broke eye contact.

That was until your view was blocked by a brown-eyed man with black hair, dressed in a blue suit.

Despite your desire to continue looking at the scarred man with blue eyes, you decided to get back to work. Well, it wasn't like you had a choice, as you and your manager were the only ones working for the day.

"Is that all for you today?" You asked the customer as you worked the machine in front of you.

"Yeah," the customer nodded.

"Thank you, and come again." You smiled at the man as you handed him a bag with the baked goods he just bought.

As soon as the customer left, you were greeted by the scarred man with glowing blue eyes, which made your heart skip a beat. You could feel the butterflies dancing in your stomach as you drowned in those ocean eyes.

"You know, if I were someone else, I would call the cops on you for staring this long." The man smirked as he watched your face redden from embarrassment.

"I uh—you just look nice today." You came up with an excuse as you bit your bottom lip and looked away, cursing yourself out in your mind.

"I can say the same to you." He commented, making your already blushing face blush a brighter red.

"T-thank you." You stuttered, trying to calm your unsteady heartbeat.

That following night, you were lying on your bed as you stared at the ceiling in front of you. You couldn't seem to fall asleep that night, not after that encounter with Dabi earlier today. You couldn't seem to get him out of your mind, and it made you scared.

For the first time in forever, your heart was beating for someone else. The butterflies inside your stomach were dancing for that someone. Your heart was now longing to see him again, even if it was for a second. Even though it felt good to know you were finally falling for someone else, you couldn't help but feel anxious.

You barely knew the man, yet he had you thinking about him like this. For that reason, you were afraid of falling harder than you should have.

Ring Ring Ring

Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of your phone ringing as it vibrated against the wooden desk next to your bed.

"Yes, mom?" You answered the phone.

"Hello sweetie, how have you been?"

"I've been good, everything has been going well for me. What about you and dad?" You asked over the phone as you lay back on the bed.

"We've been busier than ever, but I just wanted to tell you that we were invited to the Chisaki's dinner party for their new inventions. I was hoping you would come along, but I'm not forcing you at all, honey."

You gave it some thought before agreeing to be there.

"Awesome. The event will take place next Friday. I can't wait to see you home."

"Yeah, me too." You replied, trying your best to sound excited, but in reality, you weren't. You actually didn't want to go, but what your mom said was true. It has been a while since you've been home, so you took this opportunity to see them.

One of the reasons you  stopped visiting home was because of the way they pushed you in the direction of marrying someone. Of course you would do anything to make your parents happy, but that was the old you. The one who knew nothing at the time. Now that you are all grown up, you want to decide when you want to settle down.

Regretting the choice that you just made, you got up from the bed and made your way out of your bedroom. You didn't bother putting on a jacket as you slipped on some slippers and headed out of your apartment.

At that moment, you didn't care about anything. You just wanted to take a breather and get your mind off your family.

You got  inside the elevator and pressed the top floor, and once you reached the top floor, you walked out. Eventually, you made your way towards the stairs at the end of the hallway and took the stairs that would lead you onto the rooftop of the building.

You were immediately greeted by a gush of wind that brushed past your face as your hair danced with the wind. The sudden breeze of the wind made your body shiver, but it was too late as you were already there. You didn't want to go back just for a jacket.

From there, you walked over to the edge of the building where railings were laid and stood up to your chest. You couldn't help but admire the town you were in. The view was so beautiful that you forgot why you were there in the first place.

"This is nice." You smiled as you took a deep breath.

Whenever you were stressed out, upset, or just needed a breather, the rooftop of your apartment building was your go-to place. It was always quiet and calming. Not to mention, the view was extremely beautiful and helped you relax a bit. Like a reminder that the world isn't as big or scary as you thought it was.

The more you came by, the more you noticed how people weren't as fond of this place as you were. Which was a plus for you since you prefer to be alone whenever you are stressed out.

You were watching the beautiful lights below you when the smiling face of Dabi suddenly appeared in your mind. A small blush of pink appeared on your cheeks when you thought about how handsome he looked. How beautiful his eyes looked and how his scars made them shine even more.

"Aren't you scared you're going to fall?"

Your heart skipped a beat when you heard the familiar voice of the person you were just thinking about. The butterflies were already dancing as you turned around to find the scarred man who stole your heart.

"Oh, hey." You greeted him timidly with a wave.

"What are you doing up here?" He asked, walking closer to you.

"Just wanted to clear my mind." You answered with a smile. "What are you doing here?" You then asked as he stood next to you and leaned over the railing.

"I came here to smoke, but seeing you here, I decided to wait until you leave." He answered, looking at the beautiful view in front of him.

"I see."

You didn't bother saying anything else as you turned to look at the view, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The sudden gush of wind made your body shiver as you held it.

"Here, take it." Dabi handed you his black bomber jacket, but you refused.

"You seemed pretty cold for someone who's fine." He shook his head at your stubbornness as he forced the jacket over your narrow shoulders.

"T-thank you." You mumbled, accepting the warmth his jacket gave you.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He suddenly asked, catching you by surprise. "You said you came here to clear your mind, so there must be something bothering you, right?" He added this as he turned to look at you.

"Well, yeah, but..."

"If you don't feel comfortable, it's fine." He said, turning to look at the view.

"I..." You opened your mouth to speak but stopped. Was it alright to tell him? Would it be fine if you spilled your bottled-up feelings? How would he respond to what you wanted to say? Would he judge you?

You decided to push the thoughts aside, mustered up your courage, and said, "I'm going back to visit home soon, but I don't know how to feel about that."

"Why not?"

"If I go back, they're just going to introduce me to a bunch of men they think I should marry. As you can see, I'm not really into that sort of thing."

"So that must mean, you don't have a boyfriend?"

"Basically."

"Well, why not? You're a beautiful lady, aren't you?" Dabi complimented you, causing your face to heat up at his words.

"I haven't found anyone I like yet; well, I guess I did, but I'm not sure how to go about it." You confessed.

"And who is this person we're talking about?"

"A secret." You smiled.
