Chaeyoung's POV
My heart absolutely broke watching Nadine get separated from the people working at the Home. After all, Nadine did have trouble getting adopted despite her young age so the people there took care and showered her with love.
As we closed the door of the van shut, with my blurry eyes I watched as Nadine kept screaming and crying. I don't recall when was the last time I cried this much but all I know is that I'd do anything to protect this precious life and show her what it's like to be in a family and to be loved.
She deserves to know what being in a family is like and I'm sure that she will be the key to my family's missing piece.
Chaemin (Nadine)'s POV
I must have been crying so much that I ended up falling asleep in Omma's arms. All I remembered was Omma and Chaeyoung unnie constantly trying to calm me down and reminding me that everything will be okay.
When I woke up, it was an unfamiliar sight. I was not sure where I was or what I was doing here. I was lying down in the middle of a huge bed. I wondered around and saw Chaeyoung unnie seated on a chair while using her laptop.
Since I was feeling scared all over again, I started crying and I think Chaeyoung unnie was startled to know I was awake and went straight to me and carried me. She tried to hush me and calm me down which somehow worked. She bounced up and down, brought me to the window to distract me before I finally got comfortable being with her. She gave me a kiss on the forehead and gave me pats on the back.
"It's okay Chaemin, I'm here. Don't worry. I'm here." She continuously said while stroking my hair.
Soon, Omma and Appa came back too, and they came back with food. Good thing they did because I was feeling hungry. They set up the food by the small table and gathered around to have their meal. Each one of them took turns to feed me so that they too can have their meal.
Every time Omma feeds me, Chaeyoung unnie will stare at me and smile every time I take a bite. I like Chaeyoung unnie. She keeps making me smile and laugh.
After our meal, Omma, Appa and Chaeyoung unnie started getting busy. They were packing up the toys and clothes in the luggage. While Appa and Omma handled the luggage, Chaeyoung unnie helped me with my backpack once again before carrying me out of the room.
"Are you ready Chaemin? Let's go to your forever home now!" Chaeyoung unnie said as we got into a car heading towards the airport.
We made it pass the immigration and was now seated by the glass window where I could see things I only saw in pictures.
"Airplane!" I said excitedly.
"That's right! We will be taking an airplane; will you be a good girl on the airplane?" Chaeyoung unnie asked.
I nodded my head and watched as some of the airplanes take off right in front of my eyes.
We boarded the plane and was escorted by a lady and a few big sized looking men. I got my own seat next to Chaeyoung unnie while Omma and Appa sat behind us. The chair was so big and there was a huge tv right in front of me.
I was scared to be on my own, so I started crying which caught Chaeyoung unnie's attention. I guess she isn't used to my abrupt crying because she gets startled every time I cry.
"Don't cry. Want to sit on my lap instead?" she asked.
I nodded and she gladly allowed me to get comfortable and then proceeded to buckle her seatbelt. We both looked outside the window and Chaeyoung unnie said something which finally hit me hard.
She said, "Say bye bye Singapore."
And so, I waved back while looking at the city of lights that were shining so brightly, as if it was waving back at me. Throughout the 7-hour flight, I played games, ate, slept, and maybe have cried a little here and there.
Right before we touched down, an announcement was being made.
In about 5 minutes, we will be touching down in South Korea. For those visiting, welcome to Korea and to the Korean citizens, welcome back home.
Chaeyoung's POV
As soon as we touched down, I received a lot of notifications on my phone.
"There are a lot of reporters here waiting for you. It's best if you exit separately from Chaemin and your parents."
"All right manager unnie. Thanks for the heads up."
I took a quick glance at Chaemin who was looking like she was about to throw a tantrum but seeing her that way makes me giggle.
"Omma, Appa. Take Chaemin with you. I don't want Chaemin to be the centre of attention. I'll meet you guys back at home."
Omma and Appa nodded as if they already got used to their child's 'idol life'.
Even though I wished I could have been with this historical moment with Chaemin and my parents, I only cared for her safety so I decided to split up with them so that the reporters would only put their attention on me and me only.
I didn't want to make it obvious so I tried to steal a few glances as I watched Chaemin and my parents exit through the other door safely. Even though we were far apart, I could see Chaemin keeping her eyes on me - as if she was worried about me.
Psh. I should be taking care of you instead Chaemin.
Chaemin's POV
We made our way in the car but Chaeyoung unnie was not with us. Omma stroked the back of my hair and said, "Don't worry, Chaeyoung unnie will join us later."
I watched out of the window as the car drove away. Throughout the ride, Appa held my hand and when we finally started seeing more buildings, both Omma and Appa said, "Chaemin, welcome to Korea."
I wasn't used to the new name they gave me, but I'll get there, right?
When we finally reached our destination, I held on to Omma's hand as we made our way to the lift. Appa keyed in some numbers on the door, and we quietly made our way in.
I was curious as to what was inside, so I started looking at every part of the house.
I heard the sound of the door being opened and a guy suddenly came out of a room and said, "Hello Chaemin. I'm Hyung!"
This must be the other guy I saw in the book that Ms Louisa showed me the other day. He tried to get comfortable with me, but I was still hesitant, so he gave me some space to warm up. Shortly after, the main entrance door opened, and then came Chaeyoung unnie. I was happy to see her again.
Omma, Appa, Hyung and Chaeyoung unnie then led me to a room. On the door of the room, had some Korean characters on it. I'm guessing it's my name. When they opened the door, it was like as if I was living in some kind of fantasy. I've never seen a room so big and my style! I was so happy and excited that I started running around the room. There were so many toys and books all over the room and the bed was so big and pretty that I started jumping around.
On the wall, there was a big banner that said, "Welcome home Chaemin!"
I was over the moon, and I can't believe that I actually have a family now. I looked back and saw Omma, Appa, Chaeyoung unnie and Hyung standing by the door with the brightest smile plastered on their faces.
I think it finally hit me. That I have a family now. I ran up to them and hugged them and said, "Thank you!" They all chuckled but with tears flowing down their cheeks. It was so unreal honestly.
The same night, all of them were in my room, helping me as I get ready to sleep. I must have used up so much of my energy because I was exhausted. All of them gave me goodnight kisses and watched as I drifted off to dreamland.
Chaeyoung's POV
I'm so glad I made it home in time to see Chaemin's reaction to her forever home.
Flashback
"Alright. So what should we do first?" Asked Sana unnie.
"First, let's go shopping to buy all the stuff Chaemin will need in her room." Instructed Jihyo unnie.
My helpful servants also known as my members insisted that they wanted to chip in and help with the planning of Chaemin's room. My members have been the most supportive people ever. When they heard about my family adopting Chaemin, all of them were so excited and wanted to spoil her and were already planning on activities to do with her - as if their life isn't busy enough.
I smiled as I recalled when my members and I look at the completed room and said, "Woah, we did a good job doing our sister's room."
I looked at Nayeon unnie and said, "Our?"
She raised both her eyebrows and said, "Yes. Your sister is our sister too. Right members?"
And all of them nodded their heads in agreement and I chuckled as I watched them claim my sister as theirs too.
End of Flashback
I'm so glad to see how happy Chaemin is. Her first night here with us ended with us watching her as she fall fast asleep on her bed.
My family.
It's complete now.
3rd Person's POV
"Wah! I'm so excited to be here again!" The younger girl exclaimed.
"Are you? That's good." The older girl replied and smiled as she pat the head of the younger girl.
