Part 1

It was already late at night and the members of the Khan household were already in their beds except one, the one and only Shayaan Junaid Khan who was preparing to leave the office. It was the usual thing for Naziya and junaid. From the moment Shayaan had started taking the ropes of the business he was very much involved in that much to the annoyance of his mother.

At twenty eight years, Shayaan Khan was one of the eligible bachelor you could look for. He was cultured, well mannered, with every Inch of handsomeness dripping from him.

For the girls he was the perfect definition of tall, dark and handsome except that dark, as he was having fair complexion. The genes that he has inherited from his father's side making him desirable in the eyes of the women and girls. It wasn't like that he wasn't aware of his charm but he was having a self imposed restriction.

His mother's clear words were still fresh in his mind.

"Shayaan, bahu hum apni pasand ki layengi, ye firangi ladkiyan nai chhaiye hamen."

( Shayaan I will the daughter in law of my choice, I don't don't these foreign girls.)

And as a matter of fact that the same words were uttered by Naziya Begum when Shayaan turned eighteen.

An adult in the eyes of his beloved mother.

He had some short time flings but none of them harmful. His relationships were restricted to the night clubs only. None of them were escalated to a level where he would be ashamed of his upbringing.

Shayaan Khan always had a sense of responsibility and that was instilled by his parents from a small age.

**

It was early morning and by early morning meant the time after the Fajr. Junaid and Naziya have developed a habit to have the early morning tea with each other.

The habit was developed as a means by Junaid Khan to spent some quality time with his wife when he had shifted to London. As the years went by and the Khan enterprises was settled well in the foreign country, this morning become an essential part of their life.

"Shayaan kal kitne baje aaya tha?" Junaid asked his wife, they were thinking of permanently shifting to their watan (country) and have been making changes in the management for last two years.

(When did Shayaan came yesterday?)

Initially it was difficult for junaid to convince his son, but the continuous pestering from him and his dadajaan had made the stubborn man to agree to their demands.

"Raat hi ho gayi thi.. bas aate hi khana khaya hai aur so gaye Shayaan." Naziya Begum replied to her husband.

(It was already mid night, he just had dinner and slept)

"Bas sab kuch ho hi gaya hai, hamari tickets toh confirm hain Begum bas Shayaan ayenge ek mahine baad." Junaid informed his wife. Even though it was decided that they would be leaving the same day but work matters had made Shayaan to stay.

(Everything is almost done, our tickets are confirmed Begum (wife), it's only Shayaan will come after a month)

"Aapne baat ki Shayaan se, haweli mein rehne ki, wo taiyaar nai hai wahan rehne ke liye."

(Did you talked with Shayaan regarding haweli? Did you tell him that we will be living in haweli? Has he agreed?)

The khans were having a typical problem with shayaan refusing to live in the ancestral haweli. He had an argument with his father since the moment they decided that they will shift to Pakistan.

"Zubair ne baat ki hai shayaan se Naziya, aur shayaan ko mana liya hai, par mujhe phir bhi lagta hai ki shayaan nai manega. Faiza ki baat bahut buri lagi thi unhen. Sab sun liya tha usne."

(Zubair had talked with Shayaan, Naziya, and he was successful in getting Shayaan agree but I still think that he would not agree. He had listened everything that day.)

Naziya Begum knew her son very well. He was having a thinking that was different from everyone. She could still remember his exact words.

Past

18 months before

"Dad, ye dekhiye ye location, it's the prime location and I loved this. Office se bhi jyada door nahi hai.." shayaan was showing the location of the place that he has short listed for their home.

(Dad, see this location, it's the prime location and I loved this. It's also close to te office.)

"Ye kisliye hai beta, office toh already set up ho gaya hai.." Junaid Khan asked his son who was now showing him the decor.

( What is this for son, you have already set up the office)

"Rehne ke liye, jab tak hum shift honge tab tak it will be ready. Bas aap aur mom dekhlen aur kuch toh nai karna. I think this one will be perfect." He showed the 3-D model that shayaan had specifically prepared.

(It will be for our stay, it will be ready when when we will shift. It's just both you and mom have to see and see if anything else could be done. But I think this one is perfect)

"Shayaan iski koi zaroorat nahi hai, hum haweli mein rahenge aur ye aapse kisne keh diya ki hum pakistan jayenge aur Islamabad me rahenge. Aap shayad bhool gayen hain ki hamara already ek ghar hai.." Junaid gave his son his two cents that was necessary.

(Shayaan this isn't necessary, we will stay in the haweli and who told you that we will live in Islamabad once we reach pakistan? Have you forgotten that we already have a home there.)

Shayaan looked at his father's face and the look on his Father's face made him realise that he need to clear some things.

"Dad, main nahi chahta ki hum shift hokar haweli mein rahen.. isliye maine already ye plan kiya tha. Aur aapne shift hone ke liye kaha tha wahan jaane ke liye nai."

(Dad, I don't want that we should live there once we shift.. that's why I had already planned this. Moreover, you just asked me to shift, you never told me that we will live there)

"Aap yeh kaisi baatein kar rahe hain, wahan aapke dada, dadi, chacha chachi hain.. aapke baba yahan business ke liye aaye the aur hame ek din toh wapas jana hi tha." Naziya said keeping the tray on the table and handled one cup to her child.

(What are you saying Shayaan, you have your grandfather, grandmother, chacha (paternal uncle), chachi (aunt). And your father came here for business, one day we will have to return.)

"Mom.."

"Ammi kahiye aap hame.. naziya reprimanded her son. She never liked when he addressed her with the word that she didn't liked.

(Call me ammi..)

"Ammijaaaan.." shayaan said with a pause stretching the jaan making his mother to glare at him.

"Samajne ki koshish kariye, chachajaan ko bilkul acha nai lagega agar aap mein aur baba wahan rahenge. Wo unka ghar hai, hum kaise kisi aur ki cheezon par haq jama sakte hain." Shayaan pointed out his views.

(Try to understand, chachajaan (uncle) will not like if we will live there. That haweli belongs to them, how can we just go and claim what is thier's?)

"Yeh khayal kaise aaya aapke dimag mein ki zubair bhai aisa sochte honge?" Naziya asked her son and shayaan wasn't shy to express his not so acceptable views.

(How could you even think of this Shayaan? You think Zubair think like this?)

"Agar kal koi aur hamare ghar mein haq jamaye toh kaisa lagega ammi? Baba hum wahan pichle 25 salon se nai rahen hai aur ab ek dum achanak se jayenge toh acha nai lagega. Isliye meine ye Islamabad me hamare liye ye location dekhi hai. Aap dono ko achi lagegi toh mein construction shuru karwa dunga. It will take time to get this done ammi.."

(If someone comes tomorrow and say that this house belongs to them, how will it feel ammi? Baba we haven't lived there for past 25 years, and if we will go there now it won't look good. That's why I think Islamabad is good, that's why I looked for it. If both of you will approve it. Then I will get the construction started. This will take time to get this done ammi..)

"Hum is baare mein kuch nahi sunna chahte shayaan. Aap aisa kuch nai kar rahe aur ye baat ainda na ho." Junaid had enough of his son's foolish talks. He knew that what shayaan was saying was true for most of the families today but his brother wasn't like this.

(I don't want to listen anything regarding this. And don't you do anything like that and never talk about this in future. )

"Par baba mujhse bardasht nahi hoga agar kisi ne aapko ya ammi ko kuch kaha toh.. aap jaante hain na pichli baar phupho ne kya kaha tha." Shayaan pointed out the words that his sister Faiza had said without thinking and shayaan was there unfortunately.

(But baba I will not be able to tolerate if anyone will say anything to you or Ammi.. you know what phuppo (Father's sister, paternal aunt) did last time.)

Faiza had cruelly pointed out that zubair was the one who was hier to the property of the Asif Khan as he was the one managing business there. Everything that was there in Pakistan belonged to zubair and his family since Junaid had left years ago. Only did she forget that shayaan was the one who was going to hold the title of the next nawab as zubair didn't have a son.

"Agar aap wahin rehna chahte hai baba toh wahan jagah mil jaayegi par aisa na ho ki pakistan jaake hamara sukoon khatam ho jaye." Shayaan said and left the place.

(If you want to stay there baba, then we can get a place there but I want don't our peace to be taken from us in Pakistan)

Present

Meanwhile, in the beauty of the hills and mountains. The ancestral haweli of the khan's was stretched across the vast expanse of the land. There was a scenic beauty that defined the place.

It was truly the Jannah on Earth.

The eldest in the family fondly called as daadajaan and daadijaan by their grandchildren were sipping the tea that was made by their granddaughter.

"Daadijaan ye dekhiye, hogaya finally humse." Dua zubair Khan showed her daadijaan the difficult problem of the trigonometry that she was trying to solve for past one hour. Sitting with her grandparents Dua was preparing for her upcoming exams.

(Daadijaan, look finally I have done it.)

"Hamne kaha tha hamari gudiya kar legi. Aur bataiye kaisi chal rahi hai aapki taiyaari?" Asif Khan asked his dearest granddaughter.

(I told you that my baby will do it. Tell me how is your preparation going on)

Dua was the only daughter of zubair and gulufsha. She looked like a doll if anyone would look at her first time. Her hazel eyes, her waist length hair were her pride. But what made her beautiful was her smile that made her look beautiful, just like a hoor.

"Bas hum kar rahen hain dadajaan, hum chahte hain taayi ammi aur taya abbu ke aane se pehle hum pura course karlen. Pata nahi unhen hum yaad bhi honge ya nahi, last time I was fourteen when they were here aur hum padai ki wajah se unse milne bhi nai ja paye." She complaint adorably.

(I am going it daadijaan, I want to complete my course before Taayi ammi and taya abbu arrives. I hope they remember me. Last time I was fourteen when they were here, and then I couldn't go to meet them due to my studies).

"Aapke taya abbu toh do din mein aajayenge chanda, toh jyada kitabon mein ghusne ki zaroorat nai hai aapko." Aadila Begum instructed her granddaughter knowing her habit of forgetting herself when her exams are near.

(Your taya abbu will come in two days, no need to get lost in those books now)

"Phir toh nahi hoga itni jaldi humse daadijaan," she pouted and closed the book.

(Then, I won't be able to complete it so soon daadijaan)

"Hume hamna aapi ke nikaah mein itna time barbaad nai karna chahiye tha, ab hum enjoy kaise karenge." Dua said with worry laced words.

(I shouldn't have wasted my time in Hamna aapi's nikkah, now how will I enjoy)

"Imtihaan ke baad karlena bache, apke taya abbu aur tayi ammi ab yahin rahenge." Her dadajaan consoled the worried dua.

(You can enjoy after your exams baby, your taya abbu and taya ammi will stay here only)

"Aur bhaijaan? Wo toh kabhi nai rehte yahaan dadajaan. Unhen shayad hum log pasand nahi hain." Dua put forward her worries. Her cousin was reserved and she found it really difficult to even talk to him.

(And bhaijaan? He doesn't stay here daadijaan. I think he doesn't like us much)

"Wo bhi yahin rahenge, aur aapse kisne kaha ki wo aapko pasand nai karte?" Aadila asked her innocent grand daughter who innocently replied.

(He will also stay here, and who told you that he doesn't like you?)

"Wo kabhi nai aate yahan, na humse kabhi baat karte hai, last time wo aaye the tak bhi humpe chillaya tha aur humne toh kuch kiya bhi nahi tha daadijaan." Dua recalled the incident of five years back, where shayaan had listened to his phupho and had taken his anger on the innocent Dua who had come to gave his coffee. Dua was scared from that moment and never tried to even come infront of him again.

( He never comes here and doesn't talk to me. Last time when he came here be shouted at me and daadijaan I didn't even do anything.)

Much love

But if I am to add English translations for all the written updates, it is going to be a never ending task and english dialogues doesn't give me Desi feel.
