My Hero

Chapter one

"Are you sure about this?" The brunette boy asked.
"100% positive. I'll be okay, Hyoko, don't worry. Now, I have to go or I'll miss the boat. I love you." The identical girl said, flashing him a somber smile and slinging a black backpack over her shoulder. He sighed and returned the smile, with a wave goodbye.
"Bye, Kat. I love you too." He said as she walked out the door. Tears caressed her cheeks as she walked out of the village, waving others goodbye. This was the first time she would be leaving the village without her twin. They were nearly inseparable. Only apart when they needed to be, and even then, it was never more than a few days. Katsuki was worried about leaving him behind, though, she knew that if she didn't leave now, she'd never become a hunter. So she walked her way through Whale Island and soon, she made it to the docks. She was sitting on the deck of the boat, humming a tune when she heard the horn blow. Just as the ship was taking off, she saw people crowding to the edge and shouting.

"Pfft. What idiots." A man said, leaning against a barrel. Katsuki stood up and walked to the group. She saw two people rushing to try and catch the boat.

"I guess they didn't hear the horn" She thought.

She heard others laughing and saying they'd never make it, but much to their amazement, the younger boy cast his fishing poll and swung him and the other onto the deck. Katsuki let out a small chuckle at the sounds of the others shock, and watched as they scoffed. She walked up to the pair and offered her hand to the dark haired male. It was clear he hadn't landed very comfortably, unlike the younger boy. He took it and she helped him up, giving him a warm smile.

"Are you alright?" She asked him. He nodded and rubbed his head.
"Yeah I'm fine, thank you. The name's Leorio Paradinight, how about you?" he questioned.
"Nice to meet you, Leorio. My name is Katsuki Yama." She said, smiling.

"Hm, Leorio Paradinight. It has a nice ring to it." She thought to herself.

Katsuki looked to her left and saw the boy from before. He looked like the energetic type based off his hyperactive aura. He seemed really sweet too, always flashing people a big grin. When she went to turn to Leorio, he had already left, sitting on against one of the staffs. She shrugged and went to go sit down herself, taking off her backpack and opening it. She grabbed out a leather notebook and a bar of chocolate and started to write while she ate. Hours passed and she only snapped out of her creative trance when the captain announced that a bad storm was going to arrive soon, and they all needed to go inside.

"A storm? Is this man crazy? It's warm and sunny. There's no way it's going to storm." She heard others say. Murmurs came from the crowd as they went inside, but in the end everyone followed orders. Like predicted, a horrible storm rolled in, making most feel sick, including Katsuki.

"Gah... I feel like I'm about to puke. I just have to be strong and fight through it. I can't look weak in front of the competition." She thought.

As she leaned against the wall, she looked around and noticed that the spikey haired boy from earlier was handing out herbs. When he got to her he gave a smile and handed her the herbs.
"You seem okay, but just in case, here are these herbs. You'll feel better when you chew on them." He explained.
"Thank you. May I ask your name?" the Brunette asked.
"Oh, I'm Gon! Nice to meet you miss!" He energetically answered.
"It's nice to meet you as well Gon. My name is Katsuki " She said with a smile.

The captain walked in the room and analyzed the state of most of the people.

"What a bunch of wimps." The captain thought.

He continued looking around the room and found four outliers.
"You four, come here." He said. Gon and Katsuki looked at each other for a moment and walked over, along with two other boys.
"Tell me your names and why you want to become a hunter." The captain demanded. The others gave the captain a curious look but soon, Gon piped up.
"My name is Gon Freeces, and my dad was a hunter. I'm going to find him!" He said. Katsuki smiled at his enthusiasm. One of the males piped up and started yelling at him for being so quick to answer. Soon, the captain explained that he was an examiner, and that if they didn't answer him, they would fail.
She coughed and then cleared her throat. "My name is Katsuki Yamamoto, and I want to become a hunter to help endangered animals." She said.
"I want to become a hunter-" The taller male started but was interrupted by the blonde.
"I want to become a hunter to get revenge. My name is kurapika and I'm the last remaining member of the Kurta clan..." He continued explaining how his village was slaughter by the phantom troupe. Katsuki felt her heart ache for the Kurapika. She had only ever felt a fraction of the pain he had.
"My name is Leorio, and I want to become a hunter for the money." He exclaimed. The mood shifted as Leorio explained his reasoning.

•I don't feel like doing the whole fight thing and whatever. In the next chapter there will be a time skip to when they get on Dolle Island. Anyways, see ya!!•
