Sixteen year-old Shay Hart is the guardian to her younger sister, Hannalie, after their parents are killed in a plane crash. Chace is an arrogant seventeen year-old with a player-vibe, but he hates all girls. And with no living relatives nearby, Shay is forced to provide for her younger sister all by herself. But that’s a bit hard when you’re only a junior in high school. Rejection after rejection, Shay is shocked when a quirky, young, wide-eyed woman named Abby greets her with the offer of a lifetime—all she has to do is assist her with her stubborn nephew, and she’ll make seventy dollars an hour. But everybody has their limits, and Shay just about meets hers when she learned her real job is to teach Chace how to get a girl. Abby and her husband fear that Chace will never find a girlfriend, what with his misanthropic personality. Even though Shay isn’t exactly the most popular person amongst girls, what with her oddball and nerdy disposition, she vows that, by the end of the year, Chace will have fallen in love. But when Chace starts to act out, and Simon, Shay’s best friend, enter the picture, there come complications. And with a whole year to spend together, will Chace and Shay discover that they’re more than friends, or will they stick to the thought that their relationship is strictly business?
