A hundred years from now, the world has undoubtedly become a safer place: for most. Thanks to fantastic advances in the medical world, more than 80% of serious diseases, genetic disorders and illnesses have been eradicated; but at a peculiar price. The vaccines designed to protect humanity have rendered them almost incapable of naturally producing their own emotions. Some defy this phenomenon, oddities known as Sensitives, who live out their lives in research facilities where their emotions can be studied by manufacturers to try and create copies of their emotions as close to the naturals as possible. Those with money and power can afford to buy artificially manufactured emotions, those without shuffle robotically through the drudgery of everyday life. And those in between, such as Desmond Taggart, save up and live for weekends of hedonism and feeling. However, Desmond's world is turned upside down when one day he finds a girl stumbling out of the woods on the run; a girl who doesn't have to fake her smile or weep crocodile's tears. His struggle to hide Bree from the world takes a dangerous turn as the new, violent police force set themselves the task of finding her. Led by the ruthless Officer Ragna, these are no ordinary police. They are hunters known as Hounds, their DNA spliced with that of dogs' to help them sniff out Sensitives and those who overdose on emotions, aggressive but loyal towards their creators. Desmond, Bree and Ragna's lives and those of their friends and foes are pieces on a chessboard. And those who move the pieces have many secrets to hide from their subjects. (Shitty intro I know, forgive me, I'll work on it! But PLEASE if any of you my lovely followers are left, please give this a read, it's a story I've had in my head for years and am desperate to get feedback on as it's very close to my heart. Thank-you!)
