'But Genie, you've never babysat a kid in your life!' Tess exclaims quite loudly in my ear. 'Yes, but I do like kids. You know, as long as they behave, ' I point out in a bid to reassure her. And me. ' Behave?! Are you listening to yourself?? I don't know Gen, I reeeally think this isn't a good idea... ' I totally agreed with her. So why exactly was I doing this? Genie Haringey feels like she has fallen into a proverbial ditch - everything in her life seems to be going wrong. Her first post-doctoral research project is more of a menace than a cure, her ex-boyfriend is happily engaged to one of those "gorgeous supermodel wannabe" types and her love life is a joke that has literally had her rolling on the floor with laughter. Despite being a proud homebody, Genie decides to do a six-month sabbatical at a research lab in London hoping the change of scenery - and people would get her life back on track. However, two unexpected things happen to thwart her plans: 1) She mistakenly becomes a nanny to two adorable under-six year olds, and 2) She begins to fall for their famous father Add into the mix a meddlesome family, a snobbish socialite and the return of old ghosts from the past and well...there's only one way to find out how the story ends!
