For the first time in history, the world is silent. A brutal Saudi-Syrian war drew the attention of the world and its armies. In the span of a few months the wager sat as the remains of the world's oil reserves. With almost the entire United States' military abroad, a severe outbreak of a volatile bacteria has left the United States nearly exterminated, and launched into anarchy with nobody to intervene. Raymond, or Ray, as his brothers and sisters call him, is an intelligent but overwhelmed man. Barely out of boyhood he is caught in the fight to create a future among a group of survivors in the Southern United States. Torn from college, drafted into the military, and left in the wake of his discharge, Raymond radiates the meaning of the phrase, "Blood runs thicker than water" in a world where blood is the first, last, and only rule of law.
