First book of the series. Alex had been a thorn in my side lately and I couldn't take it anymore. Considering that we weren't staying with anyone other than each other, I wasn't worried about who was worrying about what. Alex knew that I went out at random times; I didn't even need to tell him.
Yeah, he'd get worried and text me if I was gone for a few days, but it was a mutual, silent agreement, that none of us commented on. I never asked why he'd cut himself, or cut himself off from the world, and he never asked why I randomly left for a few days.
My bright, candy red hair was pulled back messily into a ponytail so the California winds wouldn't mess the curls up any more than they already were. My usual eyeliner and mascara was currently wiped off my face as I walked slowly down the coast of the shore. The sea softly kissed my toes before retracting back into the sea to send its brothers and sisters to kiss them as well.
The strings of my cut off shorts were blowing in the wind, hitting my bare thighs in the process. My tank top flowed freely through the wind.
The soft and smooth sand caressed my toes when the waves washed away. I was obsessed with taking long walks down the beach. I was a hopeless romantic, even though I was alone.
I tugged my hair out of the ponytail, rethinking my decision to keep it tied up. I loved how it whipped across my back, freely, as if there wasn't a care in the world.
The sun was starting to set along the edges of the dark and deep blue ocean, far off the coast. All Rights Reserved
