They say time and tide waits for no man! The Montbray Palace inhabitants, all teenagers with an exception of one preteen girl Arnisa, have nothing but time on their hands. The entry to the palace is a one way ticket, a permanent trap that holds no exit door. Kal, a seventeen year old, is stripped from his memories and sent to the palace in retribution, the reason he doesn’t remember anymore. It doesn’t take long for him to realize that there is something off about the palace that follows non-linear timeline. Few kids, who seem to know pre-amnesiac Kal, are apprehensive and hostile; especially Arnisa acts like she has seen a ghost whenever he approaches her. Thrown in the mix is a mysterious girl, Alexis that appears in his dreams, questioning him about his past decisions and jogs his memories while invoking a mixture of emotions in him, including love and guilt. There is only one way Kal can make it out of the palace alive, helping the other kids to escape as well, is by regaining his memories. But his memory comes with an expiry date; the day his memories are fully restored is the last day of his life. Will he gamble his life and help the kids who are stuck in the palace or complete his mission that would potentially involve saving the world? I got inspired to write this story after watching edge of tomorrow. The basic concept had formed in my head a while ago, but took a concrete form while walking out of the theatre. Why a story about teenagers? In my opinion, most teens are willing to take risks in life with no regard for long term consequences, hence fits my story like a glove. Divulging more here would give away the story, so I request you to read this story in chapters where Peter Pan meets Groundhog Day. Need some peer review, both positive criticism and negative are welcome! Please excuse my grammatical errors as this is my first draft, and also my first attempt at writing fiction.
