Our story begins with a skyscraper. Not any regular skyscraper. A tall, massive building which has been equipped with the misleading and unearned title of "Neighborhood." Milo Hestler isn't fooled, but a part of her still wants to believe in a park on the roof and an Olive Garden in the basement. And perhaps even friends in the other apartments. That would be a welcome change. Yet, the realistic side of she whispers pesimistic facts: Her family never stays in one place long. Nobody wherever she moves has ever wanted to be friends with her. And even if someone did, she will be gone before too long. Why bother? However, there is still that glimmer of hope that this time, this weird place will be different.
