[PREVIEW] Jamal's headlights illuminate Nonso, who is standing by his car, keys in hand, staring at us. "Thanks again for the ride, sir. You're a lifesaver," I say, but Jamal's gaze is fixed on Nonso, his expression hardening. "Isn't that your neighbor? From the club? Nonso?" "You guys know each other? I knew it." "We don't. Not anymore," he says, but Nonso presses a button on his car key and walks back to his building without a word, leaving me puzzled. I force a smile as I unbuckle my seatbelt and step out of the car. I wave goodbye to Jamal as he drives off, feeling utterly bewildered. Why did Nonso leave like that? What's the deal between him and Jamal? How can they claim not to know each other yet exude so much animosity, putting me in the middle? And now, I realize Nonso was the reason I wanted to leave the party early. We shared an incredible time last night, and I foolishly hoped for a repeat tonight. Now that I'm back home, it's all awkward. With the tension between Jamal and Nonso, it all feels like a bad idea. I just need to shower and sleep, avoiding any further drama.
