As Jedidiah Matthews wrestles with his own demons of obsessive compulsive disorder, he is suddenly confronted by a wandering vagabond and a dying monk, both linking him to ancient powers that have long lay dormant in the earth. Torn by conscience concerning the use of what is akin to “magic,” Jed must interpret whether the secret fire is a gift from above or a snare from below. His quest to discover the key to these ancient powers leads him to the moors of northwest England where, in crumbling catacombs, he excavates writings chronicling the first Servant of the Secret Fire; a man who was forced to stand alone against the Fallen Ones and their offspring, the Nephilim, while safeguarding all knowledge of the fire against a coming cataclysm. But, when a long forgotten Order emerges from the corridors of time to gain influence through coercion and intimidation over the leaders of the world’s most powerful governments, Jed must pull his nose out of ancient books and gain mastery over the fire, even before knowing for certain whether or not he should. In a display of power that rends the heavens and scorches the earth, those who wield the secret fire bring the nations to the edge of apocalypse. But, for Jedidiah Matthews, will the salvation of the world mean the loss of his own soul?
