My Beautiful Psychosis is a gritty tale of transformation which shows us the most extreme experiences a human mind can endure. The story takes place over a series of seven so-called psychotic episodes: through the harsh landscapes of the psychiatric wards but also a pilgrimage, from troubled twenty-something to a respected documentary filmmaker and campaigner for a new perspective on mental health and wellbeing. It has a powerful message to convey and turns on its head the idea that psychosis is a debilitating illness, caused by a brain chemical imbalance, which requires medication for life. The book questions fundamental beliefs about how the world is. It is an intense, honest and lucid memoir, an exposing and vulnerable adventure through a psyche that is spilling out undigested psychological material to reveal secrets from a past that has been forgotten. Psychosis is portrayed as the psyche's attempt to integrate them and become whole. But the psychiatric system pathologises these experiences, seeking to 'help' by relieving the distress through antipsychotics. Whilst medication is sometimes useful, it doesn't really attend to the deeper need: for validation, compassionate holding, skilful navigation and most of all grounding. I wrote this book to inspire others who have been given a label that has severely restricted their lives, to act as a beacon of light for them to reclaim the power of their own innate healing ability. It is also to educate their family and friends as well as to give mental health professionals a different perspective so that they can better support those in crisis. - Coping with a Mental Illness Ongoing

Don't ever be afraid of doing anything just because no one else has done it and you have no documentation of someone's failure or success. Fear is not going to stop me anymore. I will document my withdrawal side effects and try to not get out of balance. Baby steps is all it is. You can't force anything because it ends up quick and badly. So bare with my sarcasm. I am just a balkan girl. That spent some time in a balkan horror story asylum. And now there is a new chapter. No drug reliance chapter. No more antipsychotics. Hey there! This is a story inspired by my real life experience with mental illness. I went through five solid years of each and every medical treatment making me worse off than before. This led up to a medically induced mixed-mood-manic episode in 2018. In fact, the way I knew I was manic was by waking up one day out of the blue writing poetry. Something I had never done before but I couldn't stop writing poetry for ten solid months. This book explores my real life frustration, hopelessness, and unorthodox ways of coping. I don't condone the use of dissociation from reality to cope, but, sometimes, reality is truly too much to bare. This book deals with adult themes, mental illness, mental hospitals, mental illness treatment, medication, cursing, trauma, and suicidal ideation. Probably not suited for everyone but, for those of you that are ready, I hope it speaks to you. This is my first time on Wattpad and my first time writing something that resembles a book. Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my work! - Obsidian Ongoing
