{ Space Opera | COMPLETE } After a shady government contract goes sour, expert smuggler Daren finds himself working alongside an enemy scientist in a race against invasion - and an opponent who may be able to predict the future. ~ ~ ~ ~ Author's Note ~ ~ ~ ~ 'FutureSight' is an old story. I've posted it here for reference as I'd like exploring Daren's universe further. Based off a movie I saw in a dream, years ago. The Drift: a colorful metaphor for the empty space between stars and planets, more closely describing the ever-expanding nature of galaxies and the universe itself. As a colloquialism, it is typically used to reference the gravitational currents and eddies running through the bleak, black nothing. Tales from the Drift is a science-fantasy serial telling the story of an evolving galaxy that is fraught with as many dangers as it is wonders. In Old Lessons, Hard Futures a guardian soldier, an indolent boy-pirate, an old warhorse, and a wayward hotshot find themselves caught in a tangle of plots set to unbalance the already teetering scales of power within the galaxy. --- --- Final chapter published: 05MAY2023. --- --- Cover Art and Headers created using Canva. - Wayfarers (Champions of the Crystal Book 1) Complete

Ross McIntyre's very existence is illegal. Obsolete decommissioned Psyborg turned soldier of fortune, he inherits his mentor's ship, the St. Martin, in the middle of an AI recovery op. Too late to back out of the contract, he risks mutiny with a crew who fears he's one of the abominations they had suffered under during the recent short, but horrific Psyborg wars. With their recovery package located on a black hat R&D site in deep space, a facility defended by the most advanced orbital and suborbital defenses the system has ever seen, he'll have to pull together a shorthanded fearful crew and the operations plan of the century. Unbeknownst to him, the AI is hardly a disembodied program on a hard drive somewhere in the facility. And she's just been activated. Hardened captain of a transport hauler catering to exclusive clientele in need of high security, Ash Knighton is contracted to pick up prisoners and move them to Junertia, an insignificant moon. It seems pretty straightforward, up until the prisoners stage an overthrow and damage critical systems. Until one of the prisoners turns out to be the disowned activist son of the highest profile shipping magnate in the system. Until she receives a data burst from her long dead father. Two heroes' stories intersect in this gritty, thriller space opera spanning the Sol System, where certain massive corporate entities have the same voting rights as planetary bodies and the race for instantaneous matter transfer at scale is the arms race du jour. When Hunter Carson imagined what life would be like when he grew up, he didn't think he would be a fugitive. He didn't imagine he would be wanted in three different planetary systems among two galaxies. He could never have imagined the little leather-bound book he had found in his father's library was actually the only one of it's kind and an interplanetary treasure, priceless, and he would break the record for highest library fine ever recorded. Nor did he imagine that the Galaxian Library would send a bounty hunter after him to collect said book. But when he hides out in an abandoned temple on the Stardos Morsian moon, with the bounty hunter closing in on his location, he finds out that the book has a much more sinister purpose, and his journey has just begun. - The Daughters of Titan Ongoing

The solar system is fractured into two superpowers. The megacorporation, Outer Wilds Charter (OWC) and the defacto Earth governing body, the Inner SOL Conglomerate (ISC). The tension between the two political and economic rivals is tense and diplomatic relations were days away from breaking down. War is already visible at the horizon and it was only a matter of time before it turned into a full-blown interplanetary battle. Caught in this deadly crossfire is a handful of fleet academy students based in orbit of Saturn's largest moon, Titan. Completely green and still wet around the ears, the students were about to receive their first practical lessons in the art of starship jousting...
