Chapter three:

~Anna's point of view~

I was drained after the spell and as I leaned against the trunk of a tree for support I knew I needed more practise at this stuff. Alexis and my mother had been the only one's to know of my magic and that's the way I preferred it to stay.

I sipped my pepsi and brushed my hair out of my eyes by running a hand through it. I set down my half empty pepsi can and lit myself a cigarette. It burned slowly and some embers fell silently to the ground like dying dragonflies. I took a long drag, held in the smoke for a few seconds and then released. I took a breath and felt more relaxed for doing so. That's when I heard the branch snap, luckily for me all my witch stuff had been hidden in my bag once more and I'd only get busted for smoking if this was my dad or Jared.

It turned out to be a deer, startled by the chanting I'd done during the ritual I had performed. Damn it. I cursed silently, stupid deer nearly gave me a heart attack. I sighed relentlessly. Giving the deer a glare that could send a fully grown man six feet under. It faltered under my gaze and dashed for escape as I got up collecting my belongings as I went.

That's when the real danger was posed, only now did I realize I wasn't in the pack grounds and up in a near tree was a wolf waiting to pounce at me. Double damn! I slowly backed away and then ran for my life, my purseur close to me, I stayed out of reach but only just so. When I came running into the back garden I crashed right into Adrian who grabbed me in his arms and wrapped me in a tight embrace as I choked on my own fear. "What happened?" he question. I shook my head in fear and covered my mouth. He got the signal. 'I'm not talking here, help me inside' he nodded silently and took me to my room, carrying me bridal style. He laid me down on my bed's comfy matteress.

"Talk" he demanded. I gulped down a lump in my throat. "I was chased" Adrian raised an eye brow but didn't protest, his calculating eyes watched me carefully. "By. A. Frickin. Huge. Wolf!" he chuckled. "Well for once we can't tell your dad, you shouldn't know about our kind so I can't report it to him. What colour was it?"

I glared at him. "I got chased by a wolf and your asking me to remember the colour of it?! Jesus christ Adrian what does colour matter?" he laughed. "Because wolves' colours signalize what pack their in or whether they're rogue" I acknowledged this with a small, weak nod.

"The wolf was golden brown" he growled at me then. "You were chased by a rogue, if I were you I'd shower, the smell of a rogue like that'll stick to you. I'll report this to Jared, don't worry I won't mention you. I'll say I was caught unaware in the woods and was suddenly chased." I nodded. "Thanks Adrian" he flashed me a smile. "Your welcome" he closed the door behind me and left me to my own shenanigans. I quickly packed away my grimoire, pendant, herbs as well as my cigarettes and my lighter. Hiding them behind a stack of books I'd bought they were easily hidden in their shadows.

I sat back down and examined my ankle, hitting right into Adrian had hurt and I'm sure whacking into a werewolf can't be good for my kind. I looked at it closely, a few scratches and a small bruise, nothing my jeans wouldn't easily cover up. I grabbed a towel, my toiletries bag, a change of clothes and went to take a shower.

~Still Anna's point of view~

It was later that night after my shower and I lay in bed, dressed in jeans and a loose fitting top, my hair dripping droplets onto my pillow and patchwork blanket. I moved the blanket away from my hair and stared up at the ceiling, boring my eyes into it's pristine sugar white colour.

There was a knock and I shot right up from my position. I examined the aura of the person stood outside my door and naturally I knew it was Adrian. "Come in!" I yelled. Even though he could've heard it if I'd have whispered it.

He entered through the door, locking it behind him. "So I told Jared and he said I was the stupidest creature he'd ever met-" I giggled. Gesturing for him to continue as I did. "And he said tonight the assassins can do a perimeter check" I nodded and he smiled, sitting down beside me on my bed as he did. But after a moment he didn't a move any closer to my, he sneered and let out a low growl. "You still smell like him" I flinched. "Come here" he took of his shirt, revealing his godly awesome chest and handed me his shirt. "Put it on" he demaned. "What?" he chuckled. "If Jared smells rogue on you, you're dead" I acknowledged this with a nod. I got up and turned away from him, taking off my shirt I replaced it with his. "Happy now?" he exhaled deeply, within only centimetres from my stomach. "Very" he replied and I rolled my eyes. "Isn't he going to be bothered I smell like you?" he chuckled. "Nah like you said yesterday 'I'm a man whore' nobody expects anything to great from me, doing his sister is the least of his problems" I agreed with a nod.

"What does a rogue smell like?" I asked, considering my senses were nothing in comparison to a werewolves'. "Death" he replied somberly. "Oh" I said, stopped short by his response. "Do you wanna like go for a run or something?" I asked. He gave me a challenging smile. "Can you keep up?"
