If I said that I lived a normal life, with normal people in it, would you believe me?

If you answered yes, then you're wrong.

If you answered no, then you'd be right.

Yeah yeah, you've seen it all before. Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. Boy likes girl...

Girl has been paid to kill that boy.

Yep, that's where the perfect story ends.

And to be honest, it never even started....

Dead and Gone.

by MastaWindy18

The icy Transylvanian winds cut through my dark red tunic and chilled my pale skin. My breath floated in clouds of steam before me before it was snatched away by the mountain winds. I pulled my long black leather jacket tightly around my chest and I continued to trudge slowly through the snow, my destination finally in sight. The tiny run down village sat nestled at the foot of the mountain. There was a dusting of snow on the roofs of the houses and there was a small trickle of comers and goers on the muddy road into the village. I brushed a stray strand of my long, curly honey blonde hair out of my eyes as I stepped onto the road. I took no notice of the people who stopped to stare at me, I was quite used to the stares now, it happened to me wherever I went, especially with a reputation like mine. As usual, there were amazed looks, there were shocked looks, there were scared looks and there were shifty looks, and a lot of them. I checked that my concealed silver dagger was close to hand. Sometimes I didn't always get warm welcomes from my clients. I kept my eyes up and my stride confident, my face expressionless. Ahead of me I could see a cluster of men standing around a large leafless tree. They were waiting for me, I knew it, and I recognised the mayor's golden chain of office. The man came hurrying towards me, before quickly dipping into a small bow.

"Are you Mercy Hunter?" he asked me.

"That I am," I replied. The mayor looked relieved and he grabbed my hand and shook it violently,

"I am so glad that you are here, Miss Hunter, it has been so hard for the people, what with the hard winter and...." he paused as if trying to build up the courage to finish his sentence, the mayor took a deep breath before continuing,"And with IT'S thirst, it is just too much for us,"

"I understand sir," I said patting his hand,"However I am here now and soon all you're troubles will be over, just give me the directions to the Cold One and I'll be on my way,". The mayor let go of my hand and pointed into the thick pine forest just beyond the last rows of houses,

"His castle is two miles into the woods, that way," he told me. I gave him a nod, and started forwards, but stopped and spoke again,

"Just one more thing," I said, "Would you like his head, or just his fangs?" I didn't wait for an answer before I turned away towards the forest, the castle and my quarry, and that quarry was a Vampire....

Yep, that's me.

Mercy Hunter.

Vampire Slayer.
