Luke waited anxiously for Val to reply to him. No, really. He was nervous as hell.

His thumb was between his teeth, his leg bouncing so much that Petunia hopped off the couch and went in search of a chew toy.

When ten minutes had passed, he decided that he wasn't going to sit around and wait for a girl (who he'd never met) to message him back.

He was Luke Hemmings for goodness sake, he didn't need to sit and pathetically wait next to his phone.

So he got up, ready to keep himself busy with something else, but when his phone went off he dived back down onto the couch to see who it was.

It was only Calum though, letting him know he was on his way over.

Luke's shoulders slumped, okay maybe he was going to be pathetic and wait around.

When Calum had arrived, Luke was a mess.

He thought he had screwed things up and explained, in a hurried rush of words to Calum what was going on. Calum sat back; blinking at his best friend who was currently acting like the world was going to end.

When Luke finished, Calum laughed.

Calum laughed the type of laugh that hurts your stomach and brings tears to your eyes.

"Tell me you're fucken kidding, Lu?"

When Luke remained silent, Calum sobered up, taking in his best friend's hurt face. He nodded, licking his lips and asked to see the messages that Luke had mentioned.

Luke passed over his phone and moved closer to Calum, looking at the texts again.

Calum nodded again, slower this time.

"Look, mate," He put a hand over his best friend's shoulders, "This isn't even that bad. You just sound a little nervous, which is completely normal and okay."

Luke winced, he knew it was bad. That's why she wasn't replying.

"Okay but—"

"Okay but what? She hasn't replied? So what?" Luke's eyes widened at Calum's casual brush off at what he was going through.

"She said she was going to look up the lyrics to make sure she doesn't mess it up. She's probably coming up with ideas right now."

Luke remained quiet, thinking it over. The more he thought about what Calum had said, the more sense it made.

He then laughed quietly under his breath.

"And the Golden Globe award goes to..."

Calum then joined in on the laughter, standing up and grabbing the TV remote. He stood up straight, pretending to be a presenter.

"Luke Hemmings! For being the most dramatic little shithead!"

Luke feigned surprise, jumping up to accept his 'award'.

"You okay now?" Calum asked, meaning it. He had never seen Luke get so stressed about a girl, at least not since they were still in school. Luke threw the remote back onto the couch, laughing at himself.

"Yeah mate, all good. Thanks for that."

Calum nodded, his attention now shifting to his stomach that had just rumbled. He walked through the living room and over to the kitchen.

Luke's mind started to wonder, if he couldn't impress Val as 'luke_rob', maybe he could as Luke Hemmings.

"Hey Cal, do you think your sister could help me with something?"
