                                                            MIA'S POINT OF VEIW

I walked into the hospital lobby, tilting my chin up. I tried to look super confident rocking this costume, considering you really never see anybody dressed like this in a hospital. "Amanda Cera." Zee said to the desk lady with way too much make up on for a sixty year old with red hair. The lady squinted at me.

     "Ring." She said.

     "Huh?"

"Your eyebrow. Take it out." She scowled.

"Why?" I folded my arms. I didn't want to take it out! "I can't take out my eyebrow." I challenged.

"Mia..." Zee said quietly, resting her hand softly on my arm. I shook it off and stared at the woman.

"Your peircing. We have a new security system. No metal." She said.

"This isn't an airport. We just came to see her little sister sick with Leukemia. So if you'll excuse me." I said and disappeared into the elevators.

"Quite the friend you got there." She grumbled.

"You're telling me..." Zee laughed and went into the elevator, where I waited. We stood silent until the elevator door closed before bursting into laughter.

"She looks like my cat!" I said, referring to my orange cat, Copper. Zee laughed a little more until the elevator slowed to an ear-popping stop on the ninth floor. We walked down the hall until we reached room 902. We signed the clipboard hanging on the door knob and went inside.

"Hey, Bug." Zee said easily, walking over to Amanda's bed. I sucked in air and tried not to cry. Amanda looked so weak. They gave up on chemotherapy so she had her brunette locks similar to Zee's, but she still didn't look normal. She didn't look healthy. Her cheeks were hollow and her eyes were lifeless.

"What do you think?" I asked, sticking out a hip.

"I love them!" Amanda smiled. "You guys are totally going to win." She said, voice scratchy. "I'm going to be there." She said.

"Yeah, totally." Zee smiled. I wished it was true.

"I'm going to get better. I'll be strong enough to get out of bed. I'll be there, in the stands." She said as enthusiastically as she could. The part that hurt the most was that Amanda actually believed it. I smiled at her and stroked her hair. It made me sad. Sadness bubbled slowly into anger. They were letting her die! She was too weak to even get out of bed. They weren't doing chemo on her anymore. Were they even doing anything? They couldn't be giving up. They wouldn't. Would Zee's mom let them? She would not!

"I'm glad." Zee forced out her mouth. "That you like them." She said stiffly. "We have to go now." She stood up in a hurry. I could tell she was feeling the same thing I was. I understood she couldn't stand being here any longer. Hearing Amanda talk so confidantley about her condition... It kills you inside.

     "Why?" She asked.

     "Studying." Zee said.

"For a test. We have finals tomorrow." I saved her. "Zee has to help me study. I've put it off until the day before the test!" I said. "You know me... Total procrastonator." I blew air out my nose. Amanda laughed.

"Ok, I get it. Good luck on the final. See you around." She smiled. I waved and pulled Zee out the door. We shut it behind us and signed the clipboard again.

"Lets go home." Zee mumbled and walked in front of me. We walked out the lobby past Copper and to the door. She forcefully slamed it open and stormed into the truck. My heart pounded in my throat of sorrow for her. It was hurting me too, but right now I had to be there for her.

I know not to try to talk to Zee when she's in a bad mood. She doesn't like it at all. We rode silently for about five minutes. I didn't notice she was crying until the uncontainable sob escaped her mouth. She clamped it shut again. I didn't say a thing. I didn't look at her. I just put my hand on her thigh to let her know I cared. We didn't speak for the rest of the ride. I didn't expect us to. I pulled into our driveway and she cut through the woods and to her home. I felt so horribly. As soon as I shut my bedroom door behind me, I broke down crying. I didn't want to show it around Zee because now was the time where somebody needed to be strong for her because she didn't have her own strength in her. My legs trembled and I collapsed on my bed. I stared up at the ceiling, clutching my pillow over my mouth, screaming and crying. I couldn't help but picture bad images in my head.

"Mia?" Jade poked her head through the door.

"Are you alright?" Eliza came in next.

"LEAVE!" I screamed, throwing the pillow down. Jade and Eliza. Eliza and Jade. That's all they were. There wasn't one without the other. They were my twelve year old twin sisters. They had blonde hair, just like the rest of our family. Except they aggrivated me more than the rest do. It was hard being stuck in the middle. An older brother, younger sisters. And then me.

"No." Eliza sat on my bed.

     "Tell me." Jade followed.

"I said." I clutched my teeth. "GET. OUT!" I pushed them.

"Fine then. Sor-ry for wanting to help." Jade spat. She turned on her heels and walked out, followed by Eliza. They left the door open.

"Way to close the door!" I yelled and threw the pillow at it to shut it. I stayed quiet for a moment. I knew my sisters. I could tell that they hadn't left. They were quietly lingering outside the door, listening. I threw open the door, jumping them away from the door. "I said get out." I said, mad.

     "We did." Jade said matter-of-factly.

"And that means OUT OF MY ROOM, OUT OF MY SPACE, JUST LEAVE." I said, screaming. My day was falling apart. They just didn't understand. They didn't understand anything. They were about the same age as Amanda, but they didn't know each other very well. I knew Amanda like she was my own sister. I wish she was. I would trade my sisters. Jade and Eliza didn't know Amanda like I did.

     I calmed myself down.

"Mia?" Jasper slowly put his head through the door. Jasper was my boyfriend. He was the same age as I was. He had the prettiest blue/gray eyes and his hair was just like Niall Horan's (my obsession) except a chocolate color. Jasper and I were known as "Alice & Jasper" in school. I never knew why until I watched the Twilight saga for the first time last year. Jasper and I have been dating for exactly 1 year, 11 months, 4 days, and 18 hours. Close to 2 years.

"Another person?" I said, losing again. "How many people are in my house?!" I stuffed my face in a pillow. Jasper sat next to me on my bed and put his hand on my back.

"It's Amanda, isn't it?" He said. I nodded. Jasper knew what to do. He sat there and didn't say a single word for who knows how long. He just sat there, smoothing my hair and rubbing my back until I fell asleep.
