" Cover right Rookie " Agent Hanover yelled as we were ambushed. I may be a rookie Dan but im not incompetent. I cocked my gun as i stood a little from my crouched position behind a barrel & starting firing rounds in the direction of the hostiles. we don't know who or why we are being shot at but shoot first ask questions later seems to be the directive.
" shooter up top , at your 2 o clock " i yelled at Agent Hanover who clearly didn't pay me any mind , so i held my breathe to slow my breathing & get a better shot , glad my daddy taught me how to shoot & not the weak ass fbi trainers .
" what the hell rookie ! " Hanover yelled at me as the bullet whizzed past his head entering the body of the hostile up top.
" you're welcome , next time listen to the rookie " i stood up going to check on the hostiles considering we took em all out. they were a complete mix in ethnicities one was white , another was brown skinned & another one appeared to be asian .. idk , but this just didn't sit right with me.
" Rookie what you got over there " Hanover yelled from the other side of the now crime scene .
" well looks like we stumbled into something , instead of running they chose to shoot their way out with no avail. there is a briefcase stashed under those ' fallen ' debris. once the techs get here we'll be able to find out more , thats just my initial assessment. " i concluded my theory as something caught my eye , " hey dan "
" yeah "
" maybe we should call bomb squad "

" DAN CALL BOMB SQUAD NOW " i yelled as he got on the phone now i know what we stumbled into , a sale. this looked to be armed & although the timer hasn't started yet i wasn't taking my chances with a remote detonation. you never know who still outside lurking
" we need to take pics of the shooters , for id's incase this bomb goes off "
" no rookie we need to clear the area . "
" protocol is to secure the scene THEN leave the area. " i rolled my eyes as i quickly took pictures of the shooters then started to walk away , til Dan the Man over there fucking touched a body.
" DONT MOVE THEM IT COULD TRIGGER - "

fucking great. he started a countdown. good going genius " & im the rookie ? ok. " i hurried back over to the bomb in an attempt to disarm it.
" ok , we have 8 minutes ; how far is bomb squad "
" still 10 mins out. "
i pulled put my phone & called Neil , Neil & I went through training together & he chose the bomb squad route. he's probably en route now.
" hey spider can't talk rn , im out "
" i know bugs , im at the call. big agent hanover here trigger a countdown , we have almost 7 mins "

Dan was the joke of the office bc he swore he was the best agent but he made the dumbest choices i swear he does the shit on purpose to keep himself i. danger. the boy needs therapy. i took pictures the best i can sending it to Neil.

" ok Spider. its not gonna be easy but good thing you have surgical precision "

" ok. " i carefully removed the slab , trying to ease my shaky hands , one wrong move & i blow this whole entire city block. nervous is an understatement , i carefully removed the clock from its place & the damn time starting moving faster.
" bugs the countdown sped up. "
" its ok , means your doing something right. its meant to make you panic relax & start to move the wires like i taught you. "
i blew out a breath & continued twisting the wires behind each other , matching the red & blues & greens
" ok bugs , colors vary between red , blue & green . there's a slightly darker green & oh wow a bright ass orange all the way in the back , which is it "
" ok spider judgement call. put yourself into their shoes would you make it obvious or would you make it slightly more complicated. remember you want a a detonation. follow the wires with your eyes & make your best choice , "

i was frozen but my mind was in overdrive , i never made it this far in bomb training i think too much , the obvious choice is orange but im leaning more towards the darker green . these guys clearly weren't that smart if he was going to detonate the bomb anyways
" ok spider , im approaching you , be still. "
bugs appeared next to me not dressed in his suit.

" ok y'all are funny Neil cut the damn wire " agent Hanover yelled from now by the bomb squad truck.
" such a baby. " Neil laughed as he reached in between my hands & snipped the green wire
" ok im never doing that again. "
" did y'all sweep for secondary devices "
" in our initial search we came up empty but you saw who i was paired with , ya might wanna search yourselves. "
he chuckled & gave me a hug.

Agent Hanover here is basking in the limelight while im getting my ass chewed by the Assistant Director.
" Director McGee with all due respect sir , Hanover didn't even know what protocol was in that situation. he triggered the countdown what was i supposed to do ? let myself & any civilians get blown up bc of his incompetence? Sir , c'mon you would've done the same thing. "
" its not that Maliya. its the fact that protocol states you wait for bomb squad "
" in my defense i was being talked through by a bomb tech , i didn't just wing it. "
