Panel 1: We’re in a bedroom and see a young Hispanic woman, Tessaray ‘Tess’ Montez, sitting up in her bed. She’s got a hand to her head and looks like she’s had a rough night.
TESS
Oh dear God. What was in that drink?
Panel 2: Now she is sitting on the side of her bed with her head resting in her hands. She’s wearing a pair of flannel pajama bottoms and a tank top.
TESS
Never again.
Panel 3: Tess stands and stretches her arms. As she stretches she looks back at the bed.
Panel 4: There is another woman in the bed, curled up asleep. Tess is frowning and has her arms folded across her chest as she stands beside the bed.
TESS (Thoughts)
What was her name again?
Panel 5: Tess shrugs her shoulders and smiles as she walks towards the bedroom door.
TESS
I guess I’ll ask her her name when she wakes up.
Page 2 (6 panels)
Panel 1: Tess is walking down a hall towards the front door. There is a clock on the wall that reads 8 am.
TESS
Alright Tess, let’s see what’s going on in the world.
Panel 2: Tess pulls open the front door and looks out. It’s a bright, clear day.
Panel 3: Tess is barefoot and heading down her walkway. She’s looking at the ground as she walks.
TESS
Where is my paper? I’m going to have a talk with that kid. His aim gets worse every morning.
Panel 4: Tess looks at a row or hedges and sees the end of a newspaper sticking out of a bush.
TESS
Bingo.
Panel 5: We see the back of a newspaper. Tess has it open and is reading the sports section.
TESS
Are you serious? LA has a better three point game than Detroit. How could they lose?!
Panel 6: SFX: GROAN. This is a close-up of Tess’s face. She just heard the groan and has one eyebrow cocked.
TESS
Huh?

Panel 1: Tess lowers the paper and there is a zombie standing a few feet away from her.
TESS
WHAT THE!?
Panel 2: Tess drops the paper and starts to back away from the zombie. She does not see that there is another zombie standing behind reaching for her.
Panel 3: SFX: AAAAHHH!! The zombie behind Tess has grabbed her shoulder. Tess screams when she feels a cold hand on her shoulder.
Panel 4: Tess ducks under the zombie’s arm.
TESS
Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit…
Panel 5: This is a shot of Tess’s front door. There are three zombies standing between her and the door.
