I stare directly at the pools of blue
That once showed warmth and longing.
But all I see are black drops falling
From my still blue vast sky.

In that moment, I slowly shut my eyes,
Rummaging through the mental photos taken
Of the astonishing sight I would've never forsaken,
For now it is clouded by the pain it underlies.

I unclosed my eyes and gaped once again.
The sorrow dominated as I watch the pouring rain.
The seemingly clear canvass could've deceived me
If it weren't for the streaks of black.

The thunderous sound was nowhere to be heard.
Not one furious lightning flashed before my very eye.
But the constant drops fell silently on my curb.
My stay was no longer essential for it will never dry.

I used to wipe her tears and now I was the one to cause it.
The far-away look in her eyes no longer begged me to stay;
Unlike before where I have witnessed its aftermath- the rainbow.
I walked away with a heavy heart like a student on a Monday.
