Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, things just don't work out in the end. All that matters is that you get back up on your feet.

-Castiel's journal

---

Hello, journal.

My name is Castiel Novak.

Weird name, I know. Don't even bother with my other siblings' names. They range from Biblical to Satanic.

Actually no, that's a lie. Only Lucifer's name would be considered satanic.
And...maybe mine, too, because I'm wrong and damned to a lifetime in Hell, because...never mind, it isn't important.

You're only a book. I don't see how writing every single thing I feel on to your pages is going to help me in any shape or form.

Father said it would make things better, that if I pour all my sins onto paper, they'll just disappear. I'll magically be straight. Everyone except for Gabriel and Lucifer agreed.

Lucifer said something along the lines of: "Go suck a dick, dad!"

Gabriel nodded in agreement, before adding in his own part: "I'm totally gay too, so bye, bitches! I'm out!"

I don't know if he was lying just to take some of the punishment off me, but I was still surprised when he left. I felt betrayed, because I'd then be down a friend. Brother, whatever. Same thing.

Except for the fact that he's only fourteen. He actually went to the local Bulk Barn and bought out most of their candies, filling a rainbow shaped piñata with as many sparkly confections as possible, before letting it rip on our front porch.

Father hit him, practically throwing all 5'8 of him down the stairs. I tried to stand up for him.

That's why I'm currently holding an ice pack to my head. Zachariah can throw a mean punch when he's angry, and apparently me being gay is just enough to tick him off.

Gabriel is passed out on the floor of our room, his blonde hair matted with blood. I don't know if he's okay, but there's no way I'd be getting out of the house any time soon.

I could pray, but what help would that be? I'm named after an angel, but I'm not exactly Heaven-bound.
