Chapter 9

Aimee's POV

"Niall, stop eating the cake!" Zayn scolded.

"Shut up, guys!" Liam reprimanded, sending the two boys a stern look.

"Okay. In 1, 2, 3 . . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOUIS!" we greeted in unison, jumping up and down on his bed.

Louis' eyes fluttered open, a confused expression gracing his features.

"What time is it?" he groaned, stifling a small yawn.

"10 AM." Liam said.

He let out another groan, burying his face in his pillow.

"Come on, Lou!" I urged. "We have a carrot cake for you downstairs."

That caught his attention. He rose from the bed in less than a split second and dashed to the kitchen, nearly knocking Niall over who was standing by the door.

We shuffled into the kitchen and saw Louis shoving slices of carrot cake into his mouth faster than you can say "Nando's."

"Wow, Aimee! This is amazeballs!" he chirped, small bits of cake flying out of his mouth.

"I can tell." I grinned, satisfied with his reaction.

"Happy birthday, mate." Zayn greeted Louis and they all piled together for a group hug. I smiled to myself. They must be really, really close to each other.

"Hey, Aimee?" Harry called. "I thought you and Niall baked cupcakes?"

My eyes locked with Niall's. "Well, that plan obviously failed."

I let out a laugh, wriggling my eyebrows at him. He stuck his tongue at me.

"Any plans for today?" Liam asked, grabbing a slice of Louis' carrot cake.

None of us answered.

"Aha! Grocery store!" Louis cheered after a few moments. "So we can cook for Christmas dinner."

Niall's face lit up when he heard Louis' suggestion. The lads nodded in agreement.

"I'll get ready!" I announced and went straight to the guest room Niall. It was next to his room and Harry's room.

I put on jeans and a plain blue top. I was about to put on my Converse when my phone suddenly rang. Oh, and it's my beloved Em.

"Hello?"

"Yo Aimes! How are ya?"

"I'm good. What about you?"

"Great, great! It's Louis' birthday today so tell him I said hi. Okay?"

"Yeah, sure. Anything for you."

"YAAAAAAY! You're the best! So, how are you and Niall?"

I could just imagine a huge smirk on her face right now.

"Cut it out, Em! And we're fine."

There was silence at the end of the line.

"I need to go. I'll call you later, okay? Love lots!"

She then hung up. Typical Em.

I put on my shoes and checked my reflection in the full-length mirror.
