I once saw an old couple
Their hands so bony and thin
Hands that helped build this nation
Hands that have held children, and grand children
I once saw an old couple
With legs that now walk slow
But once were strong, legs that made this nation grow
Legs that have ran after children and grand children
I once saw an old couple
Their faces ancient
Laugh lines, and frown lines,
Every wrinkle telling a story
I only saw an old couple
Their bodies broken and rusted
But I looked in to their eyes and
those eyes, those eyes
I once saw an only couple
who had eyes still full of life
Their eyes had the glow of their youth
A light that time has not diminished
That is what I saw of an old couple
