He held my hand as we walked down the beach with our shoes off. The waves hit my feet with a sudden force, making me shiver. The water was very cold. He started stroking my thumb with his thumbs, making butterflies erupt in my stomach.

No, we're not together just yet.

He admitted he liked me. But, I was somewhat disappointed. He doesn't like me the way I like him. I'm in love with him—he just likes me.

"Ya know, I've been thinking about what you said." I look up at him, while kicking the sand as I walk.

He dropped his arm around my shoulder and looked down at me. "What'd I say?"

"Me, not having a bright future." I began. "You were right. I should've tried harder and I know Taylor wouldn't want me to fail. So, I'm gonna redo my senior year next year."

He nodded. "Oh, that's good."

"You don't sound as happy as I wanted you to be.." I look back forward.

"I am happy, but I don't want you to start school again just because I had a problem about you not being successful." He shrugged, slightly. "I mean, you were right, you can do whatever you want."

"No, Chres." I stopped walking and stood in front of him. "I wanna do it for me."

He embraced me and kissed the top of my head. "I'm proud of you."

I pulled away and playfully hit his chest. "You sound like a damn adult."

He chortled. "I am, girl. Have you forgotten that I am 18 years old?"

"Whatever." I giggled.

I was about to walk away but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back to his chest. His eyes staring at mine, making me nervous. Our lips almost touching, making me want to kiss him badly. We breathed heavily waiting for what could happen next.

He tucked loose strands of hair behind my ear before lightly stroking it. I couldn't take it anymore. I just smiled and pulled away from him.

"I think we've been here long enough." I spoke, quietly. We've been here since 4 PM—it's about to be 7 o'clock. "You should take me home."

"Yeah, yeah." He looked disappointed. "Of course."

We both walked silently to his car. We were silent throughout the whole car ride—which bothered me. He even turned on the radio to at least numb down the quietness. We both know it didn't work.

"Thanks," I glance at him. "I had fun."

He forced a smile. "Goodnight."

"You too."

He gave me a quick peck on the cheek. I smiled at him before getting down the car. I walked in the house just in time to hear to car pull off. I sighed, locking the front door behind me.

"Girl, where the hell were you?!" Bahja threw her hands up, approaching me. "You know how long I've been here waiting on you? 2 fucking hours! You weren't even answering your phone!"

"It was on silence." I chuckled. "And, I was out with Chresanto."

Her face lit up. "Really?" I nodded slowly. "What happened? I need all the details!" I grabbed her up to my room. We both sat on my bed. "Well, start talking, Nique."

"We talked about random things." I shrugged.

"And?"

"And we almost kissed." I said, hastily. "So, how are you and Destin?"
