I was able to resist,

steadfastly refused

desirable though they be-

you were just not for me!

While others long spoke

Of how they couldn't do

I stood my ground,

unencumbered and proud

No need to have you hanging around.

No doubt, I knew

you could be charming,

seductively disarming,

but the thought of my reliance

Kept me away from any dalliance.

in a moment I was weak

suddenly consumed by my need.

I could no longer hold back

from what you had to offer.

I reached for you,

pulled you close -

not to my mouth, but almost.

In that instant,

all was clear.

I was foolish to hold out my dear..

and now, I can see!
