Introduction: In the Beginning

So, let’s rewind a few years back. Before the invasion of the Ugwaluda, peace reigned supreme in the beautiful land of Castella where I grew up.

My name is Axiel, first son of Pointus, fourth generation of the great Xerina my great grandfather. According to my father, our peaceful land was once a land filled with tears and sorrow, once a land where the lives and future of children and mothers (generally, the weak) hanged by the balance. Why you ask? We constantly faced attacks from other lands and being a people that didn’t really believe much in war and fighting at that time, we practically had no soldiers to defend us. But as fate would have it, a young brave generation was born, a generation that was willing to set its people free from bondage and hardship, the generation of my great grandfather, Xerina.

At sun down every day, I always sat at the feet of my father, together with my younger brother Baesum to listen to the great tales of how my great grandfather and his army conquered every land round about. We would sit there all through the night listening to those great tales.

Growing up as a young man in Castella was awesome; the streets were always filled with people and laughter of young children, the streams always flowing with fresh water, life generally was simple and peaceful.

Three out of seven days was set aside for the young men of Castella in which they gathered at the central arena of the land. At this gathering, they were trained on how to wield their swords, and also the art of war. After six days of training (i.e.  3 times a week = 6 times in 2 weeks), a contest is always held where the strength of young warriors were put to test. This was a day they all looked forward to because this was an opportunity for them to impress the girl of their dreams.

I know you all might be wondering why the use of “them, they and their”. Actually I never took part in any of these training. Not that I was afraid, I just didn’t want to be a party to it. But I always went to the arena to watch them train, and also to support my best friend, Gaesam.

On a particular day of training, actually it was the day prior to the contest; Gaesam and I were having a little chat about the upcoming contest

“Hey, I heard you are up against Pinuvi” I said, nodding towards Gaesam. “Hope you are ready to bring him down”.

“What!!!”, Gaesam blabbed with his eyes and mouth wide open in shock, “How come, how could they put me up against that brute?”

Pinuvi was the son of Chorici, the General of the Army. He was the desire of almost all the young ladies in the land, and also the foe of almost all the young men of the land except for his little puppets (his friends). He’s tall, good looking, long flowing hair like a female, has a built body and has this very light blue eyes.

“Gaesam, there’s no need to be afraid of Pinuvi, fine he’s taller than you are, but that’s no reason to be afraid” I said with my hand on his shoulder.

Gaesam was a little bit below the average height, brown eyes, curly hair but not really built.

Gaesam still with his mouth open made a funny sound with his nose.

“Ah… Forget it, now I’ll never get her…” Gaesam said cutting his sentence short as he quickly covered his mouth with his hand and turned away with guilt written all over his face.

Instantly I knew something was up, I held his hand and said, “What’s her name?”

“Nobody…” Gaesam said, turning towards me, “I have no idea what or who you are talking about? How’s your mama… hmm?”

Still holding on to his hand, I squeezed on them and with a clenched teeth said,

“What’s her name Gaesam" now squeezing harder than before "don’t make me ask again”.

Poor Gaesam in pain yelled “Finger, finger, finger… ok I’ll tell you but please stop squeezing on my hand” then I gradually let go of his hand.

After ten seconds of silence, Gaesam finally looked at me with a look that says ‘I hate it when you do this’. Then he said

“Her name is Pininiah…” Immediately, my eyes widened and my mouth dropped in surprise…

Hi, I must say thank you again for reading up to this point.
