This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, and incidents are either the products of the author's imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events in purely coincidental.

This story or any portion thereof may not be reproduced or used in any manner whatsoever without the permission of the author except for the use of brief quotations in a book review.

Note: Hi! To celebrate my 10th year in Wattpad I decided to revise all my other previous stories. In those years since I started here, I believed that I have improved as a writer to give my stories the execution that it deserves. Rest assured that the main plots and the scenes that you all loved in this story will be kept, though it may be given a new flavor.

I hope you would support the revised version as much as you supported the original version.

To the new readers, I hope you would enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

PERFECT MISTAKE

PROLOGUE

People are never meant to be perfect.

We get hurt, we do wrong, and we make mistakes.

I used to wish that I own a time machine. So I could avoid getting hurt. So I could do no wrong. So I could never make any mistakes.

"Anak? Anong sinasabi mo?"

As if hearing it once wasn't painful enough.

"Stop." I said.

"Please let me explain..." his voice trailed off.

"No."

"Please," he pleaded.

I saw his pained expression when he saw my face.

He never really wanted me in the first place.

"It was never my plan to keep this from you..."

Liar.

I spoke with a firm tone, "But you did. You did keep this from me. I gave you plenty of chances to tell me what's going on kasi gulong-gulo na ako!"

"I was about to tell you –"

I cut him off, "Save it. I don't need it anymore."

"Sophia, please listen to me first."

I don't want him to see my break down. I don't want him knowing how much the truth have wrecked me.

We stayed like that for a moment. Both of us are standing not too far from each other.

I choked back on my tears and with shaky voice, I uttered. "I'm leaving."

Agad siyang napatingin sa akin. His eyes wide with shock. "What?"

"I'm leaving," my voice cracked. "I'm taking my child with me."

"No, you're not." He immediately objected. His eyes were red, pleading. "You're not leaving. Both of you."

"I want to."

"I don't."

Does loving him enough to stay even though it's painful?

"Please don't leave, baby." He pleaded and was about to take a step towards me.

I took a step back. "I did everything that you wanted, now let me do what I want."

"I love you, Sophia." He cried.

"I wish I could say the same thing but I can't." I let out a sob. "I can't do this right now, so please...please let me leave."

"No," umiling siya. Tears are already streaming down his face.

"If you really mean what you said," I whispered loud enough for him to hear, "...please let me go."

"I love you," he repeated.

I cried harder than I ever did. Nakita ko rin kung paano siya umiyak. He covered his face with his own hands. Frustrated.

I took it as a response and took the time that he was covering his face to walk away slowly.

Because I don't want to make another mistake by letting him watch me leave.
